Is the ticking coming from the mixture control solenoid. Unplug the two pin connector on top of the carb and see if the ticking stops. If it does then plug it back in and leave it, it is normal that it clicks. It is the carb switching from lean to rich and back again.

I have a 2002 jeep liberty help with the tapping noise and stalling

The tapping is the valves hitting against the buyer upper part of engine. The stalling is most likely the computer shutting down engine. You might have engine damage. The tapping comes and goes according to engine rpm the higher the rpm the louder the tapping. If I was have it towed to u mechanic and have them run test engine might be beyond repair

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. I ran my car with no oil and now I'm hearing a loud ticking/knocking noise coming from under my valve cover. I added 2 bottles of oil after finding out that I didnt have any...

might be the valves have been damaged running without oil
- or the crankshaft / camshaft / main bearings
most probably you have to let the engine be rebuilt by a mechanic
(expect cost of more than US$ 2.000)
or get another (used) engine at a scrapyard 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-0.jpg 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-2.jpg

96 Eclipse 2.0 non-turbo Engine has a tapping sound that sounds like its coming from the top of the engine. The sound is loud enough to make it difficult to tell where its coming from. I took the valve...

Most likely cause is a hydralic tappet. Mits are well know for top end noise. Note we are talking about a tapping or clicking sound not a knock. You can try using an engine flush product if the noise is getting bad and then changing your oil. Generally if the oil is not changed regularily eventually the tapping noise gets happens.

64 Chevy pickup, rebuild engine, tapping noise in

Remove the valve cover and rotate the engine and check to see if all the valves are opening the same amount. If not, you have either a bad lifter, bent pushrod, or cam going flat. Check your valve lash with the valves closed. You should be at 0 lash at all of the rocker arms.
