Alps md driver error

Hi,

For the ALPS printers, make sure you are using Windows XP SP2 or older. There are no Win 7 drivers and there can be problems with a Win XP SP3. Join the Yahoo ALPS group. In the files section they have a full description of the problem along with a work around. It usually is a conflict with the bi-directional communication and the LPT port. The LPT port needs to be motherboard based - not an add-on card.

I hope this works.

I have an alps MD400 and am running xp pro with drivers for xp and can't get the thing to print and need a trouble shooter

There are WinXP drivers for the MD-4000. You can find them in the files section in the Yahoo ALPS Group. There are some conflicts with the Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and the ALPS printers. It is best to connect to a computer running SP2 and has a parallel port. The ALPS group also has the Twain for the Scanner. The MD-4000 does require a carrier to scan things.

Alps MD 5000P Vista Drivers

There aren't any.

You can try the XP drivers if you're using Vista 32, but there is just no way to use these printers on Vista 64

Alps MD 5000 quits before finishing

Sounds like you have a problem with the anti-curl motor.

Assuming you are using Alps drivers, and not the Microsoft drivers that are loaded by XP, you can disable it by the following process:

1. Click File->Print
2. Click the Properties button in the dialogue that opens.
3. Check the checkbox labelled "Print on backside" in the Media Type box of the properties dialogue.

If you are using the Microsoft driver (And it sounds like you are, as the Alps drivers have a printer monitor that will inform you of any problems that the printer encounters), you will need to download and install the Alps drivers. You can get them by joining the alps and alpsdecal groups at http://groups.yahoo.com. They are in the Files section of one of the groups.

Do you repair Alps MD 5000 printer

Unfortunately, this website is not a repair shop, but I'll give you what help I can....

Printhead problems are not repairable in the US or Europe any longer. You best bet is to upgrade to an MD-5500, which you can find here: http://www.alps-supplies.com
