I bought a Compaq Presario, removed vista home basic and replaced it with Windows XP pro. I need to download the internet network drivers for it, where do I go????

You may be able to use the Windows Vista drivers, as it does not appear that HP offers drivers for Windows XP.

Initially you have to download sata driver for the model of your laptop from the manufacture website.
After downloading driver you have use the nlite software to create xp cd boo table with sata driver.

SR2180NX has the Vista 32Bit OS from HP. The restore partition will always put Vista 32Bit back on if you use it. Windows XP can only be put on from scratch and I have done it while I still have Vista installed. One problem: there are no XP drivers under SR2180NX webpages. Do your research on the parts that are installed in the 2180 and any other HP machines that have the Windows XP operating system as the OEM OS. But First, check the Intel Site for the 945 chipset drivers (include the SouthBridge, too) under XP. Get them downloaded to a CD and burn the rest of the drivers you find for XP on the same CD. This way, you will have them ready when you are performing the down-grade to windows xp. After you are done with the XP install, you will still have access to the files & work you had done while in Vista. The Vista files are still readable. You might want to consider getting the Windows 7 Professional (not basic) available October 22, 2009. AND you will still have to get the Intel Downloads for Win7 any way, so why not make it a project and make it last for a few years. XP Support stops in 2014.

You can find all the drivers you need from HP's Download page for the DX6120 Micro Tower. I would guess the drivers you need are the chipset drivers, which can be found on the following pages (There are links to all the available drivers for that model #)

Please note that Vista pages do not have chipset drivers, as Vista should be able to install them on it's own.

You have to download XP drivers from the manufacturer's website. This normally happens because your harware was designed for the new OS(Vista).

Just go to hp.com and search for the model of your Laptop.

Listen dear compaq c700 models does not support windows xp , so i suggest you to please install windows vista home basic minimum.... all the drivers needed by this os is available on www.hp.com..... hope you must be satisfied otherwise no solution is dere....
