Well i fix my problem with an universal remote control of GE here is the link from walmart that is from where u can get it just $6 when u got the control program it with the code 0254 and when everything is working press SHIFT and release and then press Volume+ and the channel set will disappear... Hope this can help

Check your voltages when you power it on compared to when it shuts down...see what rail is dropping off for starters, then I can give you more of an idea where the issues are at..I have a feeling you have inverter issues because this was a common failure on this set check and see what voltages drop off after the startup screen
Access the TV's screen menu, toggle through the options to change various TV setting (e.g. color, brightness, sound), and locate the one that changes the language setting.
Call the customer service number on the back of the set and ask them if they will send a you a photocopy of the manual. I don't think they have any original copies left for sale. I could find none online.
ON THE CABLE SETTING ALL YOU GOING TO GET IS #36 this is an old tuner . in those days there where never going to be 36 channels ! the thing your getting hung up on is the marketing of the 110 ch tuner how that works take73 brodcast chanels add 37 cable chanels and you get 110 ITS ALL MARKETING

Was the TV connected to a 'cable box' ?
Was the TV conected to 'air waves' or antena input.?
If the TV is attacned to a cable box, temperly remove the cable box INPUT wire, attache an antenna to the IMPUT AND AUTOSCAN WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL
If the TV cannot 'autoscan' in 'air wave' reception...goto menu and set input channel to ch.3 or see if there is a switch in the back that can change to ch.3 or ch.4
You should get all the 'air wave' chanels which will include ch.3 & ch.4
Need to get into the menu pages to setup the tuner. Just buy a
under $10 universal remote but make sure it has a menu button.
Or - many other products that use remotes often have an option for programing it to work with other equipment.
