I really am lost and in desperate need of help. I have just got hold of a Foxconn 761GXK8MB-RS Mobo and installed it, all drivers went on fine but for some reason i cant get any sound to play. A friend...

If you're running Windows XP with service pack 3, your problem is actually a problem with service pack 3. Microsoft has in fact corrected the problem, so making sure that you've downloaded and installed all the updates will solve the problem. Let me know if this doesn't help, and we'll troubleshoot a little more.

I would like to upgrade memory, but want to assure compatability

Let me make sure, even if your motharboard supports 4 GB memory, A system of 32 bit (most users use 32 bit and among intel processors only intel core2duo/dual core supports 64 bit) wont show more than 3 GB of ram. its an operating system limitation.

But sorry to say, The max limit for your motherboard is 2GB.

Thanks

MEMORY UPGRADE FROM DDR 256Mb to DDR2 1GB hangs when Log on/Booting

Its a memory problem obviously. Try dusting the memory slot and try inserting the memory into the slot a couple of times. If still not working, the memory may be incompatible(rarely, there are brands of boards that doesn't suit to certain brands of memory), or it may be damaged.

No External Speaker Sound

Hi jdnimrod,
This is not you're first post about the Foxconn mother board.
You have an issue with the PS2 keyboard as well. This Foxconn model ( 761GXK8 you listed ), is not 100% correct.
Please check this link:

Find which is you're board.
Than post back into this answer.
It is important you run the exact CPU that is compatible with the mother board.

Memory upgrade

Hi Dave,
Foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2
Memory (Page 10 in user manual).
This motherboard includes four 240-pin slots with 1.8 V for DDR2. These slots support 256 Mb, 512 Mb and 1 Gb DDR2 technologies for x8 and x16 devices, and support maximum memory bandwidth of 8.5GB/s using DDR2 533 memory,
10.7GB/s using DDR2 667 in Dual-Channel interleaved mode, You must install at least one memory bank to ensure normal operation.

To upgrade with 1GB. This includes S/H. (Free S/H).

TigerDirect less S/H. (S/H not included).

I did find others for less on the surface. Untill you go to check out & get slammed for shipping (ground), falls between $4.99 to $9.99. I use Corsair myself. Never had a problem.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.

Failed POST

Foxconn uses the Award bios. One beep repeating means, check for improperly seated or missing memory. You can find that here. http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
Remove your memory & re-seat.

Good luck!

Memory count problems

Take out the 512mb and leave in the 256mb and 128mb and see what happens. Switch the memory around to other slots. It may be the speed of the chips. They should all be the same.
