Magnavox PJTV model 51mp392/17 -pressing channel buttons changes

Pressing channel buttons on TV or Remote cycles through inputs instead of changing channels. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2009

Since the remote and keypanel feed to one chip, I was wondering if this migh be microprocessor problems or something in the setup that's gotten corupted.

  • Anonymous Mar 27, 2009

To answer my own question: after studying the schematic, I found that the infrared and keypad feed to a microprocessor in the SSB (chip 7001.) The problem was in the SSB. Now it's convergence time, my first on an HDPTV.

Thanks for replying to my problem.

When pressing menu on remote control I do not have a tv section listed to tune in channels

The TV channel settings Menu is usually only available when the Input is on TV. Look for a Source or Input button on the TV or the remote. Press this button and try to change to the TV source option.

Please add a comment with the make and model of the TV for additional information. (Unfortunately, many TVs don't let you change the source after pressing the Menu button and they don't always have a Source/Input button on the TV. Additionally, some replacement remotes don't even include a Source or Input button. For those with an Input button, you may need to try other codes to see if any will correctly work with the TV.)

Magnavox 37MF23ID, would not turn on. Power button only blinks (green light). We have switched power cords and nothing happens. No picture, no sound.

if the power light comes on but the screen stays black, then your TV might be on the wrong input Channel. for example: you switch inputs when you play games or watch dvds vs. watching regular tv. Try to change the input

I have a rima dv1320p tv/dvd combo. How do I change the channel to the video 1 or video 2 input?

You actually don't change the"channel", you change the source of the image: from the tv to Video1 or Video2. For that al you need to do is to press the Source button on the case of the tv or the button on the remote. The button might also be called TV/AV or Input or have a square with an arrow pointing in it - depending on the version of the remote. The button cycles thru them so just keep pressing till you get the one you need.

I lost the booklet with all the codes for my remote and i need the code to work my tv my tv is a symphonic

I suggest you try these steps..

1.Turn the television set on by pressing the "Power" button on the set.

2. Find the "Code Search" button on the Philips Magnavox remote. This button will be labeled or will be a different color than the other buttons on the remote (depending on which Philips Magnavox remote you own)

3. Hold the "Code Search" button down for about ten straight seconds. The light on the Philips Magnavox remote should then stay on.

4. Starting pressing either the "Up" or "Down" channel button on the Philips Magnavox remote. Continue pressing the same button until the television responds to the remote. It could take a few minutes for the channel to change so you'll need to have patience when searching for the remote code in this manner.

5. Press the power button on the Philips Magnavox remote once the channel has changes. If the device shuts off, press the power button again to turn the TV back on. If the TV turns on, the remote has been programmed correctly. Repeat the entire process if your remote is not programmed.

I hope this helps...

Channel buttons change input

Auto channel search is your friend. Once the tv has been through it and finds active channels, your channel button should work the way you envision.

I have an universal Philips Magnavox remote don't know the model # but I just need to know how to search for the codes. I can't remember how.

These are generic code search instructions for Phillips/Magnavox
Programing with Code Search

1. Manually turn on (TV,VCR,etc.) to be controlled.
2. Press and hold Code Search button until red indicator stays on.
Release the Code Search button.
3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.).
The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly ( up to 300 times )
until the device to be controlled changes channel.
The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally
overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to
backtrack through the library until the device changes channel.
Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again.
Press and release the Mute button to install the code.
If the device you are installing does not have a Channel Up button
use Play(VCR only) or Power, on all other devices.

Remote control code for Magnavox 15MF605T/17

oif the codes in setup don't work for the direct tv remote, here is a code list at the end of the post

Great News!! We can program most Philips Universal Remotes with Automatic Code Searh. Here's how it works on most of our remotes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

The above assumes that you want to store the VCR you want under the VCR but, Cable codes under the CBL, etc

Note: if the device does not have a chat channel at a button, you should Play (VCR only) or Power instead.

Here is a Code List on PDF that shoud be universal for most remotes. It worked for me.

Need codes for a philips universal remote code sheet

http://www.remotecodelist.com/remotes/magnavox/Philips-Magnavox_PM525S.pdf
This is the user's manual for a Phillips remote control. There is a list of codes in it. They should be rather universal. There's also instructions as to how to program it. I believe that there is a way to program it without using the codes.

Hope this helps :)

AV channel on magnavox tv

This worked for my 20" Philips Magnavox 20MT4405/17 TV, it might work for you as well. DISCLAIMER: This is just a solution that I pieced together information from various internet sources, as I could not find a free copy of the service manual to verify this. Furthermore, I am not a technician of any sort.

Enter your TV's service menu by pressing this sequence of buttons on your remote while the TV is on:
062596 Menu

Use the arrows on your remote to scroll down to "Options", push the right arrow to enter options.

Change the 7 options parameters in order to (write down the original values in case this does not solve):
OP1: 065
OP2: 215
OP3: 065
OP4: 162
OP5: 204
OP6: 201
OP7: 000

You need to enter all 3 digits for every number, even if there are zeroes. You use the numbers on the remote to do this.

Turn the TV off with the built in power button.

Unplug the TV for 10 seconds.

Plug the TV back in, turn it back on.

If this does not solve your problem, reset the values of the options in the service menu to the values you wrote down earlier because you have a different problem than what this fix works for.
