If it works on batter for a while, it is not either the motherboard or the cpu

Welcome to Fixya

Most likely the problem here is the battery. Although its telling you that its 100% charge, it doesn't mean that the battery is in good working condition. Try first reconnecting the battery. Maybe it's not making good contact with the motherboard. Ifsame problem the you might need to replace the battery first. If replacing the battery would not help then the problem is the motherboard itself.

Thank you for using Fixya!

SOURCE: My Toshiba Satellite A505-6989 hangs

Hi laxboy001460,

This is a No Boot issue but just to isolate the issue for us to determine if it's a software or hardware issue kindly proceed with the steps below:

  • Turn off the machine. Once off remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Then, without any power source press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Release the button and put back the battery in and plug in the charger. Turn on the machine. Check if you'll be able to boot up.
  • Try to check if you'll be able to boot up on Safe Mode. Turn off the machine then, turn it back on. The moment you turn it on immediately keep on tapping the F8 button. You'll be given with Safe Mode boot options. Select Safe Mode. If you are able to boot up on Safe Mode then, you have a software problem. You have to reload the Operating System of your machine to resolve the issue.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Why My TOSHIBA SATELLITE A660-13Q Froze during

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) . So open the internet options in the browser and clean all the cookies, temporary internet files, defragment the drives and RESTORE the PC to an earlier set date.

You can use a registry cleaner like Advanced system care. Download from the site and check you system for corrupt files. Also use a good antivirus software which is active to keep your system performing without an attack on the OS. Remove all unnecessary programs installed which you do not use all the time and clean up the drives. This will free up the space and make your system faster.
If there is no response but the PC tends to work slower and occasionally hanging when a program is being executed then you might have to install the OS once again. Install the OS and then an antivirus before the drivers of the PC is installed.

Also a fault on the memory can be another issue but an hardware problem that needs a probe.

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite L305-s5955 will not power up

If there is no power light and it can't charge your laptop, it is likely that the charger is dead. You need a new laptop charger. So try a new adapter to confirm the real issue.

There are two kinds of ac adapters for your toshiba l305-s5955

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 75Watt 19V 3.95A

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A

You should choose the right charger depending on your original adapter's specification. If the original one need 90w, you won't buy 75w that will bring damage to your laptop. If it needs 75w you can use 90w too.

Problem with Toshiba laptop

It stays on with Battery? Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord while plugged in? Have you tried another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs? Does the cord/charger charge the Battery? Charge LED lights? It sounds like a Graphics Adapter? If you connect to a external monitor is it the same. Your question/statement indicates multiple issues. 1 , Power, 2, Graphics. Can you clarify "color blank"?

Toshiba Satellite won't start up when AC plugged in

Try another Cord/Charger to verify the Cord, AC jack. If you plug in the AC cord after starting on battery, does the battery charge? Open Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, Advanced power settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, Adjust Advanced power setting to your preference.

Toshiba satellite won't go on

Hello. It sounds like either...

1. Your power adapter is damaged/not working. Look and see if a LED is illuminating on the power adapter. If it is chances are it is working fine and the problem may lie on your laptop. If not replace it. The easiest way to tell if your power adapter is bad is to go out to Wal-Mart or your local technology store and purchase one of their universal power adapters. They are expensive but you can buy it, try it, and return it if it does not solve the problem.

If you are going to buy a new toshiba ac adapter, you may consider the following toshiba l355 charger:
Replacement Toshiba Satellite L355 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A

OR

2. The DC pin on your laptop is bent/broken/loose. Look at where your power adapter plugs in on your laptop. Get a paper clip, bend it out to make a long paper clip and slightly push its tip on the pin inside your laptop. If the pin moves chances are either the DC pin needs to be soldered down or needs to be replaced. The part is usually cheap around $10 but the labor can cost more than $50

Toshiba satellite M45-S169 won't boot ubuntu from DVD

Your really pushing the lower minimum requirement limits if you're trying to use Ubuntu 11 or Ubuntu 12. Especially with your on-board graphics chip which borrows system ram.

Try Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (Lucid Lynx) instead.

Go Here and download the 1st link on the list under Desktop CD:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/

OR...

Here is a direct link to the ISO file you need to download and then burn to a CD:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ubuntu-10.04.4-desktop-i386.iso

If you don't have Software for burning iso's to CD's then download and install this totally FREE CD Burning program:

Toshiba Satellite C655-S5082. Won't power on. Worked fine last night. Today it won't turn on. Plug it it and no power light. With power cord plugged in when I push the power button the light for...

Hi.

Take out the AC power jack and then remove the laptop battery. Plug AC power back in and see if the laptop will turn on. If it turns on let it boot the operating system and then shut down as normal, remove the power cord and reinsert the battery and again see if it will switch on. If it does then there has been a glitch with the battery. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't switch on either with or without the battery then there is a possibility that the motherboard has developed a problem.

Good luck.
