If you are sure the ballast is gone, just cut the wire as close as possible to the ballast, throw the old ballast and buy a same wiring ballast, use wiring nuts to connect the wire from the new ballast to the wire from the tomb stone socket. DO NOT TRY TO take the wire out from tomb stone lampholder.

A trained technician should: Turn off power to bed. Remove top or bottom cover as necessary, Locate bad ballast, Insert small insulated screwdriver into slot on end of ballast and pull out wire, Remove one screw that holds ballast in place and loosen the other screw, The end of the Ballast should be slotted - so pull it out from loosened screw. Now reverse the process to install new ballast. After remounting ballast to bed, simply push the wires back into small holes in connector.

I don't believe you have the correct ballast for your light. Your old ballast was the old iron ballasts they used to use. They still are available but you have to search around to find them.

Be sure to match the tube wattage, length and diameter as closely as possible.

I`ve always used one ballast to one light.i.e if your bulb is a 400 you need a 400 ballast only and feeding no more off it. Try this

To confirm if the ballast is bad check the ballast board to see if the spark gap (on the ballast board) lights when you first turn the set on. If it does than the ballast is ok.

the ballast is right in the middle. you should see an electrical cord. open the 2 screws from the ballast cover. then unscrew the top and bottom screw from the ballast. the ballast should come off. cut the wires closer to the ballast, so that you can identify the wire with the new ballast, which will have the same color scheme.
