The sound can be muted or the sound is directed to a port that you don't use. The main board controls the sound, so if it's not muted or misdirected, then replace the main board.

Unplug it from the wall for about an hour to see if it will reset itself fist, if it is still the same then you need to look inside. First thing to look for are the DC filter caps in the power supply module, then check the DC output voltages.Look burnt brown hot spots on the circuit boards.

Assuming you are using the internal speakers, check and make sure you have the audio enabled. Some TV sets have a option to turn off the internal speakers. Also make sure mute isn't turned on. If you are using external audio setup, double check your connections.
