Sony DVP-NC600 Multi-disc DVD Player No Disc Error

My Sony DVP-NC600 Multi-disc DVD Player shows a No Disc error  whenever I put a disc in. Sometimes it will grab the disc and  spin it, other times it will not even pick it up. I removed the  cover and used optical cleaner on the lens and cleaned through  out unit. Still problem persists.   Machine is about 8-9 years old (good run...I know, but would  like to use as a second player) is there something that can be  done to remedy? Thank you.

The only other thing I can suggest, having repaired many Sony CD/DVD players, is to get a can of compressed air and try to blow any dust out from the laser assembly. Since you've already cleaned the lens (the most common problem), you also might have dust down inside the assembly. Try blowing with the air nozzle down inside, around the gap between the lens and the cover surrounding it. Do it from at least a couple of inches away, if the air is too powerful you can damage the wiring inside the assembly.

If this fails to correct the problem, your laser output may have diminished over time and the only repair is to install a new laser assembly. The cost of this part will most likely not be worth it to you since the unit is quite old now.

My DVD got stuck in the five disk player. I took off the cover and removed the disk from the player and still get the e 27 00 message.

Hi, do a hard reset. Unplug from power, wait 10 seconds, plug back in and power up. That should clear the error message unless there is another disc in there somewhere.

Sony 5 changer dvd player won't work. displayed code 31

Hi:
This may be caused by one or two causes. The laser pickup assembly is bad or the most common failure for DVD and CD players is the spindle motor. This motors bushings fails over time and does not spin the disc at the right speed so the unit times out. You can repair the by purchasing what sony calles the Mech Assembly it comes with new laser and stepper motor as well as the Spindle motor.

Sony 5 disc dvd player - discs lock in - spinner needs push to go

You can spray WD-40 contact cleaner but very little amount in spindle motor (you call it spinner) and please take care, DO NOT spray over optical lens which is so close to spindle motor.

If problem still exist, you need to replace optical lens assembly and I will provide you part number if required.
Good Luck.

Sony DVP-NC600, CD/DVD Player

Hey llacy2,

There may actually be a number of reasons that this may be occuring, and there are a couple of things that you can try in order to resolve this type of problem.

You may wish to first clean the discs being placed in the DVD tray with a soft cloth. Any kind of dirt, scratches or cracks on the disc may cause the unit to immediately reject it. Once the disc has been cleaned, try to insert it again. If the disc is rejected a second time, you may need to try a different title.

If the problem still persists with more than one disc, the manufacturer has suggested both turning the DVD player off and fully unplugging the player (power cord, other connections and all). You may wish to allow at least 1 full minute before reconnecting the player and AC adaptor, but if the problem isn't resolved after doing so you may need to contact a repair facilty for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

DVD player not working right

Check your cables between your DVD player and the TV, this play has component video outputs that could possibly cause this issue.
