You need to remove the "key assembly" before removing the handle. The key assembly is the lid, handle and diverter which all come out in one piece after taking the bolts out around the lid.
Once the assembly has been removed, you need to compress the lid down toward the diverter to allow the handle to move freely. At that point the handle pin, which connects the handle to the diverter may be removed. Note the position of the handle's pointer and the open slot on the diverter. When reassembling it is important that they are in the same position. If not careful the handle will be 180 degrees off.
Its a good idea to go ahead and change out the diverter o-rings and bearing on top of the lid (that the handle slides upon while turning) while you have it open.
SOURCE: stuck multivalve head handle
that means the filter is sendind sand back to the pool if it does the filter latteral must be replace . not a easy job
SOURCE: my filter and pump will not retain the prime after
Either you have a bad spider gasket inside the multiport valve or a bad threaded fitting going into it. Check for leaks around the multiport and backwash line. You'll have to take apart the multiport valve to make sure the spider gasket is not damaged or out of place. Make sure to install the multiport valve in the same position. You can get a replacement gasket at most pool supply stores or online.
SOURCE: Labels Gone
I also have the same problem with the label on my filter. My pool dealership said I would need deal with Wicor directly. I see two other people with the same problem, however, neither has been responded to. It is VERY difficult to run your pool properly if you don't have your control lever labeled. An immediate response would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a multi-port valve offering back wash, no filter, rinse, etc. modes? Have you ever turned it counter clock wise? (Never turn it counter clock wise.)
You will need to remove the top and put a new gasket in the valve.
If it is Push Pull, remove the two screws at the top and pull the assembly out. Remove and replace all "O" rings. Lube with silicone grease for pools and reassemble.
I think this will fis you up.
Thanks for your question today.
SOURCE: I have a Pantera 2 sand filter by wicor, 2nd hand.
the plastic pipes have come unglued inside. probably from being frozen.
take apart from the top, unscrew side pipes, reglue main distributor pipe, reassemble by screwing side pipes by hand while inside main tank. the sand that is now in the pool will vacuum up and them stay in the filter where it belongs
