The ac port in my dell inspiron is broken so the charger pin isn't connecting to it and the laptop wont turn on because the battery is dead and i cant bother to buy a new solder cause im not from

I think the black thing inside the port is broken cause its not turning on but if i put a another full charged battery in it ,it turns on . the problem is the broken charger port and i cant bother to replace it , it cost to much , and laptops are a pain to take apart i got it to work a few times but the pin has to touch the metal inside the port for it to turn on (if the pin touches the metal inside the port and white light at the bottom of the laptop comes on) couldnt get a charger with longer pin so it sends power to the laptop how can i fix this?

A) You don't want to take the laptop apart.

B) You don't have the money to have it repaired.

C) Keep going like you are with fiddling with it, and you'll smoke the AC adapter (Charger), and Power MOSFET's on the motherboard.

What !O_O! sort of 'miracle cure' are you expecting?

If you wish to correctly repair the laptop, this is the place.

Rig it so it works temporarily, and maybe permanently damages it?

Suggest go to another website.

You're going to need one of these, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source,

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103245

Doesn't have to be from that store. It's just an example.
Average cost is $3 to $6.

Yes, I understand. Hope I didn't come off like some condescending American, like I have a money tree in the back. However suggest you fix it right, or do not use at all, or soon it will be permantely damaged. The main thing you need is that Charger Board. It has the DC Power Jack mounted to it. After removing the System Board (Motherboard), and unplugging the cable to the Charger Board; remove two Philips head screws; remove the Charger Board. Place a large metal object on the table you're working on, and frequently touch it when working on the laptop, if obtaining an ESD wrist strap is not feasible for you. I can step by step you through in replacing, but you need a replacement Charger Board. Maybe one of these sellers ships to Jamaica,http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=&_o... $14.39 in USD is $1373.46 in JMD.http://coinmill.com/JMD_calculator.html#... http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&r... (My goal is to help you)

SOURCE: laptop won't turn on

The blinking orange battery light generally indicates that the battery isn't working properly, usually going out and not charging properly. In this case, since the adapter will not power the machine without the battery, and it should, I'm going to say that the adapter is going out and not getting the proper amount of power to the system. Try replacing the adapter. Be sure to replace it with a Dell replacement, the Targus brand universal adapters do not work well with Dell machines, and in most cases won't work at all.

SOURCE: My Dell Laptop is not turning on

Possibley it could be some internal parts. Please try run the onboard diagnostics by holding down Fn and the power button. Make a note of the 3 lights above the keyboard (9,A and the lock key). If it starts for a second and then shut's down, the MoBo will ahve to be replaced. 1501 has known issue and I know this as I work for DELL tech support. Call tech support or chat with them...If the product is under warranty, you should get a replacement.

SOURCE: Laptop does not work with AC adaptor, does not charge. Mother board issue

You may be able to get a battery charger but its rare.

If you do wish to use the AC adapter, take care with positive and negative. Also the voltage of the battery is actually lower than the AC adapter in order to get charged. I don't know what is going to happen if you do choose to use AC adapter as battery. 75% chance that it will work.

Good luck!

SOURCE: dell inspiron 1521 won't turn on!

Try this: remove the battery and unplug the power, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, then plug the power back in, and try turn it on again. If this doesn't work, check the power plugin port, if anything in there is moving around, it might be broken and need to be repaired. Check for a local electronics or computer store for that. The only other problem I can think of is that the motherboard died, probably from over-heating. This usually requires a new laptop, or an equivalent price for a new motherboard. Good luck, I truly hope the first one works.

My dell laptop isn't charging when plugged in. What should i do?

Dell chargers have a centre pin to allow the laptop to sense that the charger is a genuine Dell one. If the battery is not charging then:

a) Battery is faulty (old and dead)
b) Pin missing on the charger, wire broken or not original Dell device
c) Charging port on the laptop has become loose.

Hope this helps.

When I connect charger with my laptop 30 sec show battery is charging after 30 sec one message show:- QuickSet The Ac power adapter type cannot be determined. your system will operate slower...

del recognition circuit may have failed in charger , or could be fine central pin on charger plug or laptop plug has broken connection,it is used to tell laptop that this is genuine dell charger. If you remove battery will laptop work off charger.if does then definitely one of the three problem possible . for first only soln try another dell charger first, often has to be one to suit your model ,common dell problem ,if then work and charge battery ,you will need to replace charger as recognition circuit failed. If either of last 2 can repair but need to pull apart repair broken connection ,or open up laptop and check power connection and repair connection . I have an Dell Inspiron 1525 and its battery isn't getting charged. The battery gets charged every now and then but mostly, the laptop runs on AC power without getting charged. It gives me the message...

if it is the original stuff used...and nothing is changed..then try to install the battery driver so that it will be able to recognize the charger ..o r...you will have to get a new battery cause this one might be dead!..(you may take in counting a bad contact ...but if the battery works by itself when it does charge...it means that its not a contact problem ..but just a new battery needed...)

Hey i had my dell inspiron 1525 for quite a while and now the charger stopped working for some reason. i need help

The charging circuit requires an ac adapter with an intact sensing pin in the center of the Adapter barrel plug that connects to the computer. If the pin is bent or broken, the charger is disabled.
If possible, try a known good adapter from another D or E Series Dell Portable. If a KG adapter charges the battery, replace the adapter. If it makes no difference, then replace the motherboard

Dell inspiron 1300 wont work from the AC adapter

Is the laptop working without the battery, directly on AC. Have you tried using another charger or battery to see if its charging.

Dell inspiron b130

check if the ac adapter or charger has a green light on it. if not, replace the charger. for dell chargers, it should have a green light to indicate that the charger is getting power from the wall outlet. if the ac adapter is good, then you might need to replace the mother board as the ac port is integrated.

hope this resolves your problem.
