Sharp TV/video toggle problem

I have an older Sharp TV that I purchased around 1995. The serial number tag came off a long time ago. The original remote has long since been lost. I use this TV for watching DVDs only and hence only use the video function. Somehow a button got pushed and it's now in TV mode. It'll cycle through the channels but won't go into video mode. I bought two different universal remotes with tv/video buttons and although all other functions work, the TV/video button does nothing. It seems a shame to throw away a perfectly good tv just because I can't get it into video mode. What can I do?

Buy a spraying lubricant (Cool Jet) and spray directly into the button hole and after a couple of minutes try to tap/knock it several times with your finger as if you want to switch over from tv to vedio it might pop out. It might have accumulated dust.

Child lock on sharp

Turn on the TV and grab the remote. In most cases, you will need the original remote to unlock the TV if you aren't sure of the unlock code. If you don't have the original remote, you will need to purchase one.
Look at the screen. If you see a blank screen with a red key on the bottom of the screen, press 'Function' and 'Mute' at the same time. This should unlock the channel. This is an option for people who want the TV to stay locked but, want to be able to bypass the lock to watch a certain show or channel. All other channels will remain locked and the TV will fully lock when it is turned off.
Unlock all of the channels on the TV by entering the factory reset code. There are three main reset codes that TV manufacturers set. These are 0711, 6688 and 3308. Try each one until you find the one that works. This will reset the TV to original factory settings. When you do this, you will loose any information that you have stored in the TV, such as favorite channels, automatic timers and the clock. You will have to go through the full initial set up.
Call the technical support service number in your owner's manual if none of those codes work. A technician can help you troubleshoot the television because the problem may not be the locking control. When you call, make sure that you have the model number and serial number of the TV.
Take your television to a TV repair shop. In some cases, a professional who access to wiring diagrams for your television set may have to rewire certain components in order for the television to unlock. This is usually the case when the TV locks by itself while it is on. To get more details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/Pull up older posts.

I purchased a pandigital colour 7" ereader, step number 3 is to register with adobe. I tried to register , however it says I need a serial number. The pandigital did not come with a serial number. How...

you need to look very closely at the unit, there should be a tag on it somewhere. also if you still have the original box it came in, the serial number is often placed near or under the bar code tag. if you still can't find the number, you should call the pandigital company or the place where you purchased it for further advice

I had a sharp XR-20X stolen and all I have is the box, I need the serial number for the police report can I find the serial number on the original box?

Sorry to hear that. Usually the number will be on a sticker on the box. I think Sharp TVs have 9 digit numerical serial numbers, e.g. 011223344. This number will have either "Serial" or S/N written next to it.

Your other option is to call Customer support. If you registered the warranty then Sharp will have the serial number of the TV registered to your name. I don't know your location so I've listed the numbers for USA and UK:

(USA) Customer Support: 1-800-237-4277
(UK) Customer Warranty Hotline

Hope this helps:

How do I tell the year an Admiral refrigerator was built?

Most older refrigerators will have the Date Of Manufacture stamped on the model number tag. Most newer models after 1990 will not have the DOM.

If no DOM is present, you can tell if your refrigerator or freezer is made before or after 1995, IF you still have the model number tag. This tag always has the model and serial number, as well as some technical information, including the refrigerant type used in the system. Models made before 1995 will use refrigerant 12, or R12, models 1995 and after will use refrigerant 134A or R134A.

Need serial number please

If you're looking for the serial number of your specific product, the only two locations that it would be, would be on a sticker tagged somewhere on the machine (usually on the bottom, or on the rear), and on the original box (provided it was purchased new). If the sticker is gone, or the serial number is worn out, and you no longer have the box for the printer itself, then I'm afraid there is no way to conceivably retrieve the serial number for this printer. There may be a chance that there is another sticker, or a tag of some sort inside the printer casing, but I've never taken one apart to look for a serial number before.
