Camera won't format flash card

I believe I have narrowed it down to a software glitch. Was wondering if there is a secondary battery, in hopes a total reset of the camera would fix the problem.

I already bought a new CF card, it didn't make any difference. The website says the card can be formatted in the computer using Fat, which I tried on the old card. I even tried to update the bios and it won't recognize that as being on the card.

Ok. Don't mark me down for this answer because it seems you are at the end of the rope. This is what I got off the Konica support site. Question- How long does it take to reset date after the batteries are removed? A rechargable battery cell is built in the DiMAGE A200 for date/time backup. However, in case the camera is left for a long period of time, the camera is not able to keep the date/time setting if the dedicated battery has been removed before storage. If the date and time was reset, it is necessary to set them again. An internal battery is charged from the camera battery, and fully charged for approx. 30 hours. An internal battery protects the settings for approx. 240 hours (approx. 10 days) if it is fully charged. NewMediaMan- So, you'd have to leave the camera without the battery, for a long time to reset it. Konica Support site: Question- Unable to use card. Format?' alert appears. Answer: The following conditions are presumed: - File system of the card was changed by formatting with PC. - The card was formatted with other memory card device. Basically we recommend the users to format by using the camera. (All the data in the memory card will be erased.) As the memory card may have defects in itself, please try other memory card, if you have other memory cards. My solution(s) Step 1. You could try taking the camera into a Best Buy or someplace like that and ask if they have a spare card you could try in your camera. Perhaps they have a demo camera that they could swap out the card. It wouldn't hurt to try that first. Step 2. If possbile, leave the camera without the battery for about 2 weeks to see if it will reset the internal components. It's a free fix. Step 3. Purchase a new CF card and see what it does. And I need a good rating so please be kind. Thanks. Rob NewMediaMan

That's the problem with this website. People NEVER give you enough information and then they give you a poor rating because you didn't read their mind.

    Thanks for nothing.

Please don't try anything again, with the camera, before you have read this and you have all your pictures on the computer. Even when you have deleted all pictures there is a chance you can retrieve them. But saving one other picture can lower this chance. Formatting the card could narrow the chance to almost zero.
Remove the memory card from the camera and place it in a card reader.
Download the free software to recover your files on a memory card:
http://www.memorycard.freedatarecoverysoftware.org
And run the program.
I hope you did not try anything with the camera or with the card, because with the software you can make the deleted pictures visible again. Please save the pictures to your computer as soon as the program shows them to you.
After you recovered the pictures, you better format the memory card, to make sure no bad sectors are on the card. (Format the card in the camera, not in the PC)

My kodak C190 share camera keeps givig me an erro message for the memory card. It tells me it needs formatting and when I floow prompts it goes baxk to the same error message.

Hi

You do not actually say if you have ever had the card working in the Kodak EasyShare C190 but if the card has worked in the past and is now giving the error it could be down to corruption.

Flash memory cards can become corrupted for a number of reasons - the most common being:
1. the card is removed whilst the camera is still reading or writing to it
2. the power fails when the card is being written to or read from.

Corruption can sometimes be fixed by re-formating the card using a USB card reader attached to a computer. Most cameras will provide a re-format option (which sounds as if you have tried) but all this format does it to relay the directory structure on the card - if the card is corrupted this will not be solved.

Formatting the card in the USB reader will wipe the card of all data - NOTE, any images that were on the card will be lost forever.

If this does not solve the issue I would suggest you try another card to narrow down the fault to the card or the camera itself.

I hope this helps to solve your problem

My pictures wont download from my Coolpix P80. Sometimes it works after a few attempts but sometimes it won't detect pictures at all.

Hi

The problem with you Nikon Coolpix P80 needs to be narrowed down as it could be down to few issues.

  1. Faulty USB Cable - Can only narrow this down by trying the other solutions below
  2. Faulty USB port on computer - try another port or another computer?
  3. Static build up on the USB port. Switch the computer off AND unplug it from the mains. Leave it like this for 30 minutes to allow any static to disipate.
  4. Corrupt memory card - If you have a card reader you could try and read the card from the reader. DO NOT FORMAT THE CARD IF YOU HAVE DATA ON IT YOU WISH TO RETRIEVE. If required you may need to format the card in a PC and then place it back into the camera and format it in the camera.
Hope the suggestions help.

Mp3 player

1. The EnV can only play .wma and .mp3 files .. make sure no other filetype (music) exists.

2. try formatting the card before putting music on it. Make sure all your files are backed up somehwere as formatting= erasing

3. power down the phone .. Take the battery out ... then put the battery back in and power it back on and try it again .... if it fixes your problem then you were having a software glitch

Hope this helps.
