Error code 680 when I try to connect to my server

I am hooking up my Qwest provided GT701 modem, but I cannot connect to the internet, is there a step I am missing in the hook up?

The error 680 means There is no dial tone. The modem is not detecting a dial tone There are many possible causes of a No Dial Tone Error. 1.Check cable is correctly inserted into back of modem and phone socket 2.Check properties of connection, make sure correct modem is being used 3.Disable "wait for dialtone before dialing" in My Computer > Dial Up Networking > Properties of Connectoid > Configure > Connection > remove checkmark under call preferences 4.Try removing fax machines or other devices connected to the line 5.Make sure no one is using the telephone when trying to connect

In reality is the modem that is not well configured.

Go to USB on device manager, delete the modem like vodafone modem, and then scan for hardware changes.

You will be able tto connect again

I have DSL through Qwest and can connect to the internet, but the modem will drop internet connection then come back on then drop again. I will unplug the modem and restart it; it will connect then drop...

check the configuration of the modem if you can. I do not know the exact model of the modem, could you post it? then with the exact model of the modem you could google it for a Manual, Handbook, or simply good configurations. If the configurations are good, then could be the firmware that is not updated, or in the last case ask Qwest to change your modem for one that works.
A piece of advice don't open it or modify it because you could void the warranty, in case of a change.

Hope this help you!!!

Trying to change from actiontec gt701 to actiontec gt701-wg. after new modem is hooked up, internet light stays red. switched by to old modem and all is fine. anyone know why internet light stayed red?

The reason why your internet light is red for the actiontec gt701-wg is because it is not yet configure. You need to access the gui of this router. enter the username and password for your internet connection. You can contact your ISP provider so they can walk you through for the steps on how to configure your new router.

The old router has green light because it was already configured by your ISP provider.

I have a Qwest Actiontec modem that has worked fine until today. Now the DSL light is blinking and the Internet light does not come on. I have rebooted, but no fix. thanks!

If the DSL light is blinking it means that there is no DSL carrier signal to your modem. Check the phone line and make sure you have no open lines and filters are on all the devices hooked up to your phone system except your modem. You can check for an open line by hooking up a phone to the phone line going into your modem and listen for a dial tone.

Actiontec gt701

Did you Unplug the Modem from Your Electrical Outlet, AND Unplug the Telephone Line coming in too, for 5 minutes?? Give "it" a chance to Completely Re-set/Reboot..I have a GT701 DSL Modem, that's what I did, and it worked fine. "IF" that doesn't work I would go to "Support" at either Action-Tech or Your DSL/IP Provider. Hope this Helps you.

Use a Qwest Actiontec GT701-WG router with a different ISP?

Yes, if the other isp is also providing dsl services, but you will have to configure the device the other isp will not help you with that.

but its really not that difficult.

Red internet light stays on

the following link provides some very streightforward advise;
http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/modems/gt701/pdf/13566_GT701_ServiceStatus_031906msl.pdf

check the following in order
1 check that all of the cables are securely plugged in, if you find any loose plug them back in, you may need to powercycle the router afterwards though if the router is subsquently plugged into another unit down the chain power off both units turn them back on turning on the actiontec last.

2 if your ISP requires logon details to be included in your router, double check by viewing your router settings renter them if you are unsure.

3 lastly, have you paid your ISP bill?

D-link 614+ will not connect with Qwest M1000 modem

Well what everybody really doesnt know is that if Qwest provided you with a modem named Actiontech that modem has the same ip address of router so just change routers ip address to 172.16.0.1 and subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 and the problem should be solved.Im a product specialist for dlink.
