I can use the scanner with no problem on internal memory but when I insert a card I get a no card followed by a new card found restart message. When I do so I get the exact same messages.

According to the specifications it only works on a PC running XP or Vista.
I do not know anything about the scanner but is it the case the SD card does not fit the scanner or is it not recognised. If it is the latter does the user manual show you how to format the card.

I'm not familiar with your camera but, most cameras automatically write to the card when it's inserted in the camera. If yours doesn't, try this...remove the memory card...go into the menu and scroll to "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. By clearing the internal memory, your card should work properly.
