Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.
hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...thank u!!! rate me!!
Canon Powershot's error E18 has to do with the lens: If it appears on a black LCD with E18 written on the corner, it is mostly due to the lens getting stuck while trying to extend. The camera will beep a few times and the LCD will display a little E18 in the lower-left corner. The lens gets stuck in the extended position, and refuses to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off. I am giving below a link which will help you with E18 problem.

You can Try the following also;
Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fully charged batteries back in and turn the camera on. if it doesnot work then,
2: Remove the batteries again, as also remove the memory card. Then install the newly charged batteries, when you turn it on it should come back to life. 3: Insert the cameras Audio/Video (AV) cable, and turn the camera on. Inserting this cable ensures that the camera's LCD screen remains off during the start process. Thus extra battery power is available to the camera's lens motor during start up. This extra power can be useful to overcome any grit or sand particles that may be jamming the lens. 4: Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.

The following blog outlines some repair options for an E18 lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Use the audio-visual cable that came with your camera and connect your camera to your TV. Now turn-on your camera and switch to "view mode", e.g., to see a already taken picture on your LCD. You will not see anything on your LCD but may see an image on your TV, even if the image is "F18".
I used the above trick to clear an F18 error on an A75. Right now I am trying to get the camera to focus properly, but somehow the above cleared the F18 error.
If the above does not work, try connecting your camera to your computer's USB port using the other cable that came with the camera. Your camera will want to be on, and in the "view mode". I have read that this trick can reset an F18 error.
Good luck. At least it costs zero to try these two tips.
Try and clean the LCD connector _flexible connectors.
If you are able to see the dark picture- The back light panel is defective or improper contact.
If the picture is perfect in the PC when you download,,then the LCD may be defective
