WHY DO I GET STATIC WHEN I TRY TO RECORD MY VOICE USING THE MICROPHONE JACK ON THE FRONT OF THE INSPIRON 546 ?

TRYING TO RECORD VOCAL ON SONY ACID MUSIC STUDIO 8.0 USING A SHURE SM-58 MICROPHONE INTO THE MIC JACK ON THE FRONT AND ALSO THE BACK OF THE INSPIRON 546.THE VOICE IS CLEAR BUT HAS CRACKLING STATIC OVER THE TOP OF IT. ALSO WHEN USING THE MIC JACK ON THE BACK ,THE VOICE IS MONITORED FROM THE SPEAKERS BUT NOT WHEN CONNECTED TO THE FRONT MIC JACK.BOTH METHODS PRODUCE THE STATIC OVER THE VOCAL RECORDING.

SOURCE: Microphone not working

Make sure the device is not muted in the audio properties of whatever software you are running. Most audio programs will allow you disable it.

You should be able to go to Sounds and Audio devices in the control panel to test. Under the voice tab is a button to test hardware. Check there as well.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My microphone not working on my dell xps 420 vista system

double click on the speaker and make sure that the mic does not have the mute box with an x in it.

I am pretty certain you have a card in your computer for it mentions a 7.1 speaker system.
If you put your service code in to do a search for drivers you will get the correct ones for your particular machine. Download install and reboot.
If you are not using six speakers and one sub woofer then the pink one in the back is the mic

SOURCE: My Dell Dimension E510 cannot pick up any voice

This sounds like you have a voice morphing program installed. A morph program is useful for distorting your voice and special effects, but it also takes over your mic controls. Go to the control panel and choose sounds and audio devices, then look for the default device under sound recording and make sure your record device is the same model as your sound device and that it says INPUT. Another problem occurs if you right click your little sound/audio icon on the taskbar and choose open volume control then left click. Do that now and choose, options, then properties. Now on mixer device, choose one that says input. The white window on the bottom of that panel will show you several devices, check mark them all and click ok. Now manually select MIC as your default sound input device and close then try again.

Dell 546 desk top. No audio from external speakers. Downloaded driver. No help. Any ideas?

If you are using Windows, try going in the the Device or Hardware manager and removing the device. Then, look on the menu bar at the top to rescan for hardware changes. Sometimes this is the best option. I am assuming that the speakers work, but, I would plug in a set of headphones to be sure. Also, sounds dumb, but ensure that you are not plugging the speakers into the mic jack (microphone) or the line-out jack (low level output) instead of the headphone jack.

I have problem with my samson g track mic. When I record my vocals I can hear backround noise on my vocals. and I dunno how to get of that 100% I need clear voice not noise on my vocals :((

The Samson G Track microphone is very sensitive. If you have it on the heavy metal base on your computer desk it will pick up the vibrations of computer fans. It's vital to get the microphone off the desk using a mike stand with a boom or invest in the G Track spider holder if you want to use the desktop stand.

You can do a test just by holding the microphone with your hand. You should get very little noise apart from the fan noise with will be very faint. That noise is much easier to remove than the vibration noise as removing the vibration noise affects how your voice sounds.

Hope this helps.

Problems Recording Vocals with Sony Music Studio

If it's the problem that I've encountered, you probably have Kaspersky. Many people have had the same issue. I almost took the ACID program back to the store. Kaspersky is possibly scanning the file while recording and erasing the sound for some reason. Pause the protection and it should work fine. It worked for me and others. If you don't have Kaspersky, then disable your antivirus, but stay off the net while it's disabled. Hope that helps.

Not able to record vocals

Make sure everything is routed correctly in Windows. Double click the speaker icon on your taskbar, go into options, click preferences. You will have the option to view playback or recording settings and levels. Select recording and click OK. This will allow you to select which inputs are active for recording.

If it still doesn't work, make sure you have Acid configured to your sound card. I am not specifically familiar with Acid, but all audio programs need to be configured specifically to the system that they're running on.

Sony IC Recorder ICD B600

To transfer recordings from the Sony ICD-B600 to Windows first buy a Radio Shack #42-2497 cable. Connect the cable from the recorder headphone jack to the computer microphone jack. In Windows XP follow the path: start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. This small window will allow you to record 60 seconds of sound to a file. Get Article #82215 from the Microsoft web site. It will tell you how to make extended recordings. I was able to record 45 minutes continuously. The recorder is turned on by moving the 'HOLD' switch down. The recorder is turned off by moving the 'HOLD' switch up and waiting 2.5 seconds. Have fun.
