There may be times when all you may need to do is to reinstall a software program.

When this happens, having a backup copy is much more convenient than relying on a total system restore.

Hours are saved, frustration is curbed and getting back on track and up and running in record time are among the real benefits of keeping separate duplications of your software handy.

Learn how to make a backup copy of your valued software so you'll always be ready to reinstall it in an emergency situation.

Access the "Control Panel" from the Start menu.

Select the "Performance and Maintenance" category.

Select "Back Up Your Data" from the Task menu.

Use the "Back and Restore Wizard" option and then click "Next."

Select "Back Up Files and Settings."

Select the option "Let Me Choose What to Back Up" and then click "Next."

Select the software you would like to back up.

Typically, it is located in a similar location:

"My Computer, C: Program Files." Note: Check the box next to the software you would like to back up.

Click on "Finish" to begin the backup process. When finished, click "Close" to exit.

Hope this helps.

Tried to run a full system backup with FreeAgent Go. Backup failed and it looks like some files and programs were deleted from my computer in the process.

Unless you asked the backup program to delete files it won't. The program may have deleted some files it created for its own use.
What error code did it give for failing the back up. How do you know you need the deleted files?

I only want to backup new information but the drive is backing up the entire hard drive each time. How do I change this?

Set your backup program to only backup the folders you need. You have it set to backup the drive. If your set up is to backup only "New" info, then the program needs to scan the drive to find out what is new.

I have data backed up on one computer with Stomp Backup My PC V 4.71 (Dist. by Veritas) & cannot find my disk to install on new computer. What program can I buy to recover these files on my new...

That program has a specific way of preforming the backup, thus the only program that can do it exactly as it's backed up is that exact program.

I apologize, but you will need to retrieve that program for the backup to work.

I hope this helps.

How do I use this as a backup drive?

Any USB drive can be used as a backup. You just need a backup program.
You can set up Windows to do backups, however, they are not as easy for you to see the files and therefore have that reassurance that the files are actually there.
I use Karen's Replicator. Click on the link (Karen's Replicator) to locate it on the Web. This is a freeware program. You can configure it to run on a schedule and do any form of backup you need.
