you may very well be on the right track here... if it were me and my van here, i would replace the dimmer. i bet you can get another from a parts house without going to the dealer. then again... get the price from the parts house and see if the dealer will match the price for the part ( under the current big 3 situation they may do it)

sounds like a heater control cable has come off, try looking under dash by the passenger side (may need to remove some trim)and see if you can see any control cables...

Interior dome lights stay on.
Make sure that the thumbwheel that makes dash lights brighter/dimmer is not all the way to bright. That will turn on dome light. Check fuse block for dome light relay, pull out the relay and see if light goes out, if so try replacing the relay. Possible welded contacts? If all that doesn't work you will have to try each door switch and see if you have a bad one.

Electral the dash lights are not working
check your dash light dimmer switch. it is usually by the headlight switch, it might of gotten bumped accidently. if this doesn't fix your issue then i need to know if all dash lights are out or just the ones in the instrument cluster.

Lights on odometer dash not working; is it a fuse or wiring?
Make sure your instrument panel dimmer switch is not turned down. It is a "thumb wheel" located in the dash to the left of the steering column. Roll the thumbwheel UP to make the instrument panel lights brighter and roll it DOWN to make the lights dimmer.

98 S10 blazer LS 2WD 4.3 My headlights always work at night(thanks to the sensor in the dash)so I never use the headlamp switch, well awhile ago I noticed the dash lights don't come on when the headlamps...
Did you replace the DRL Relay in the fuse panel located on the drivers side dash? There is also one out in the fuse block under the hood.

I have a 98 s10 and sometimes it takes awhile for the headlights to come on, although the driving lights and parking lights and cluster lights work, anyone have anyone have any suggestions?
check the light sensor on the pass side dash its by the speaker...could be going bad

Where's the location of the second brake switch on a 98' Chevrolet s10?
the brake pedal switch is the one you want, it is on the arm the brake pedal is attached to near the top of that arm, u will need to remove the panel under the dash to see it, here is a picture of that switch.
