Dtvpal dvr nightly update deletes timers

When the nightly update run my timers are erased. I have checked to ensure there is nothing in the settings set to interfere with the timers, and there is not. As time goes by this product is getting flakier. The online guide frequently has "no information available" for anything in the future as well. Is this product even being supported? The important feature for me is having a reliable device that records shows with a nice interface and since the money is in this device, I really need it to work, so any help is appreciated.

SOURCE: DVR won't set a timer to record a show

I have never encountered this but if you have enabled the standby and it still does not work you will need a new receiver. The feature was to enable a screen saver so that televisions screens would not be etched if it were left on and you fell asleep. My suspicion is that the DVR hard drive is corrupt giving you this false message.

SOURCE: DISH DVR doesn't respond to remote

  1. If this is a TV2 location take the remote to the location of the DVR.
  2. Open the door on the right side of your receiver.
  3. Press SYS INFO.
  4. Press Record multiple times on your remote.
  5. Exit the screen and see if the remote works, if not replace the batteries and repeat steps 1-4
  6. If the remote still doesnt work, and this is a tv2 location (no receiver in the room with the tv) check the antenna on the back of your receiver, make sure that it is connected tightly and standing straight up.
  7. If none of this works call Dish and ask for a new remote.

SOURCE: Will not record a program, can not access dvr

Hello this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. With a 024 message, the best thing that we can do is hard reset the receiver. To do a hard reset, you simply unplug the receiver from the power outlet it is connected to, leave it unplugged for 20 seconds, then plug it back in. The receiver reboot process takes about 5 minutes. Once the show is back on, try accessing your DVR again, if it is still not working, the receiver will need to be replaced. If this is still a problem, please feel free to email me at [email protected] with your account number so we can get this resolved.

Yes I have dish network while taping a show the receiver shuts down sometime durning the night and my show does not record what can I do

Hey jpboward!

I can definitely help you with this. Our receivers do a nightly update, by default around 3 AM in the morning. This can be changed on most receivers from Menu > Preferences > Updates. On the 922, it can be found on Menu > Settings > Updates. If you have any other questions, let me know!

Dvr VIP622 will only record up to 20 episodes, still has 148 free hours left...whats the cause and fix?

hmaddison21,

Our 622 receivers are able to record more than just 20 episodes. There is a setting you can change to ensure it keeps any recordings.

Press the DVR button 3 times to go to Daily Schedule. Once there select "Timers" and then manually select the timer that you're having problems with. Go to Options and on the bottom is a "Maximum Recorded Events" section. This is where you can tell the receiver how many episodes to hold before automatically deleting them. Delete the timer and reset it up, make sure that box has a # symbol in it. If the problem continues afterwards, let me know here!

florami

The following is instructions for deleting timers from your receiver.

Turn your TV on. Press your DVR button on your DISH remote 2 times. This will bring up My Recordings on your TV. Select the Schedule button on the right of the screen. This will take you to the Daily Schedule screen. Select the Timers button on the right. You will be on the Timers List screen. Press and release the Left Arrow button on the remote to move the cursor into the Timers List box. Select the timer you want to remove. After pressing select on the remote, there is a button on the right, Delete. Select the Delete button and it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete the timer. Select Yes. You will need to follow those steps to delete all timers you do not want. As you delete timers, you will not see those timers on the Timers List or the Daily Schedule anymore. I hope this helps.

Guide shows info not available and is recording all kinds of weird stuff.

Recording weird stuff:

sounds like you have accidently created timers.

hit the dvr button 3 times then arrow up to 'Timers'

arrow up to 'Edit List'

here you can select the timers you do not want then select delete

Info Not Available:

run a check switch test

hit menu 6 - 1 -1

highlight 'check switch' and press select

highlight ' test' and press select

wait for the test to finish

if an error pops up there is probably a signal issue, otherwise exit out

you will get attn 015 message, allow this to finish and you will get 330

this is the guide downloading... if this does not happen go to
menu - 6 - 6 and select yes

if it still does not download call dish network

Dvr is programmed but at times "chooses" not to record show and other times it does record

Be sure that a DVR timer is set to fire, instead of an auto tune. Also if it is a series then make sure you select new episodes, your dvr will not recor a program if it has already recorded the same program once, ( re run) you can also check your scehdule in your dvr to check if timer has been deleted or modified.

I have been having DISH DVR problems lately. The most recent is my recorded programs list is not showing anything in it. But I only have 13 hours of record time left, so I know they are on there somewhere.

You always want to ensure you have the updates being completed at a time that is most convenient for you, you can change the update time which is generally set to 3am, by going into your MENU selecting option 8 (Preferences) and then selecting option 4 (Updates) you will then be able to change the time the receiver completes updates if you desire and then please just make sure you are shutting your receiver off nightly to allow the updates to be successfully completed (this will help to prevent DVR issues). In addition, once you delete some of your recordings, powering it off nightly allows the hard drive to be refreshed and clears the deleted recording entirely. I hope this helps!

Timers & recorded events erased

Ocassionally these receivers have been known to do this. It is not an issue that normally repeats itself however it is very frustrating. The upside is it ussuaaly will result in 150 hrs of record time. If you did not receive the150 hrs delete all timers and recording and reboot the system. You should have the 150 hrs once it comes back online. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

No TV Guide On Screen and no clock adjustment

I have two Panasonic DMR-EH50s and one DMR-E85H. I also have a Sony DHG-HDD250 which also uses TVGOS, but it is a HD recorder (that means full DIGITAL capabilities, including the TVGOS ) My TVGOS went out in the middle of April. I messed around on the support sites for about two weeks and found little real info.

The bottom line: I live in Madison, WI & have Charter Cable. None of my DVRs were receiving the TVGOS. Charter was not processing and/or transmitting the TVGOS properly (doesn't really matter the DVRs couldn't receive them), so I called them up, got to their "Level 3 Technical Support" and explained to them that I could not receive the TVGOS digitally or analog (converted digital) on any of my DVRs. They called me back a week later and told me to try it again....

So, all you need to do (if your local Cable Company is sending it properly):

WARNING - All SCHEDULED programs that you have previously scheduled by using the TVGOS will be deleted (NOTE: not the programs that are already recorded on your hard drive, they will NOT be deleted)

Turn the unit off.

Press the up channel & down channel (on the box, not on your remote control) at the same time & hold them for at least 10 seconds. This will reset the entire TVGOS system back to the default settings that were present when you first plugged in your DVR. This erases all previous info that your DVR had about what station it used to get the signal from and forces it to scan all the channels looking for the new channel. This is the only way to force this to occur.

When you turn on the unit, it will run you through the setup like it did when you plugged it in for the first time. Enter your zip code, etc. and when you are done, turn it off & leave it off overnight.

If your TVGOS has the Station Grid but no listings, be patient, TVGO updates its own firmware on your DVR automatically, and that may be all that happens the first night. It should start updating the listings the following night.

If it found the station grid, this is a great sign!!!! This means that your cable company is working on it!!!! It took my local Cable Company about 7 or 8 days to get it working properly, but now my 3 Panasonics and my HD Sony are all receiving full listings!!!!

If you are still getting nothing, complain to your LOCAL Cable Company. It is up to them to ensure that the signal is converted to analog & sent out over cable.
