SOURCE: How do you convert video to work on the PVR-H140?

The PVR h140 works on mpeg1 or mpeg4 format. If you need to convert avi files for example you will need a third party conversion programme such as Nero7 or similair free programmes. Check here for a 'how to' page. http://www.sharewareguide.net/article/Guide/guide:how-to-convert-video-to-mpeg4,-such-as-avi-to-mpeg4,-mpeg-to-mpeg4-and-vob-to-mpeg4-with-this-mpeg4-converter.html

SOURCE: NEED DRIVERS FOR MUSTEK PVR-H140

HI,
the drivers for the unit are available at http://www.nodevice.com/driver/_PVR-H140/get33981.html

you can use the unit as an external drive, you will need to connect the it to your computer via usb then power it up, after 30 seconds or so it should show up on "My Computer" as an extra drive.

if it doesn't show then the internal battery could be flat, though it will charge via the usb if the power is off (red light on when charging) or use the supplied power adapter.

SOURCE: HOW TO CHANGE THE MUSTEK PVR-H140 BETTERY

It is real easy to change the battery, I have done mine a few months ago
if you remove the screws from the back top and bottom (4) and remove the case
next remove the 2 small rubber strips from each side of the hard drive, then very carefully pull the connecting ribbon off the hard drive, this can be tight so gently prise apart with a screw driver,
once the hard drive is removed you will see some earthing straps just make a note of where these are located as you will need to put them back in the right place, they simply touch the hard drive,
now you shoud see the battery (very thin in a blue plastic case) you might want to remove the rubber proctective stuff just to make it a bit easier there is a simple pull/push connector
just unplug it and replace with new battery and reverse the procedure.
Dont panic if the unit fails to switch back on as mine did when i re assembled it
it was just one of those earth straps in the wrong place.

I hope this helps,
P.S I changed the battery on a unit I bought on ebay and i had nothing to loose
if you are unsure do not attemp the repair.

Frozen

1) you can charge off the usb port

2) pv-h140 has basically 3 parts

1- 40 gb hard drive (ususally a fitjitsu)
2- a battery pack (similar to the cordless phone)
3- the lcd and the pvr panel

when it hung on initialize; this means the hard drive crashed or the file is corrupt. if you drop it; you can reseat the cables and sometimes that helps.

Restore files

goto http://www.nodevice.com/driver/_PVR-H140/get33981.html

Download the zip file, then just copy all the files to the unit, should work fine, don't forget to keep a copy in case you need them again.

PVR-H140 doesn't work but cannot restore files

Problem is once the hard drive is corrupted you can't access usb to fix the problem. You have to remove the four screws on the back cover remove the 40gig hard drive. Find a laptop or an ide to usb adapter to reformat the drive. Must be fat32 not ntsf. Then copy all files back onto drive.
