PVR H140 - Frozen on "initialize" screen. I've been looking for help for awhile.
I figured out by the over posted problems mine might be the same or close. It broke about a year ago and it's past the
warranty(not that I'd know how to return it). I was hopeing
if I could go to any computer repair shop and it fix? Can they add firmware and format it? Or can I?

Problem is once the hard drive is corrupted you can't access usb to fix the problem. You have to remove the four screws on the back cover remove the 40gig hard drive. Find a laptop or an ide to usb adapter to reformat the drive. Must be fat32 not ntsf. Then copy all files back onto drive.
The PVR h140 works on mpeg1 or mpeg4 format.
If you need to convert avi files for example you will need a third party conversion programme such as Nero7 or similair free programmes.
