Minolta Dimage Z1 power quiting

I’ve had a Minolta Dimage Z1 for a number of years. Just recently it started turning off after about two second when turning on in any mode (Recording w monitor, recording w viewfinder and playback w monitor). The display turns on and the lens moves on start-up but, of course, stop when the power quits. The power quits both with the DC adaptor and with fresh batteries.

Any ideas or recommended fix?

Your power board most likely has a short. You could send it in to mackcam.com for an estimate

I have a Konica minolta with 512 MB memory. How much more memory of SDhc/SD card can it use as it is unable to use 4GB SDHC card. Thanks.

The Z1 uses SD cards, which top out at 2GB. SDHC cards do not work with this camera, as you've already found out.

I recently moved & didn't use my Z1 for several months. When I did go to use it, is when the problem started. It will power-up for a second or two & power back down. I love the camera it's been...

The battery must have run down over prolonged storage. It mayhave been stored while still on causing battery shortage. First attempt to power charge for full extent to ascertain if the camera is is in functioning order. Any unobservable faults thereafter equates to usually functionality. goodluck

Minolta dimage z1 digital camera freezes after taking one photo, can only be unfrozen by taking out and putting back in batteries.

Sometimes Z1 displays an hourglass icon and pretends it hangs. In such case you have to wait a while (sometimes quite long).

If it hangs without any signal for a user, I'm afraid there is some fault in electronics. Try to recognise if your card is OK and if the "last" photo is correctly saved. Maybe then you'll get some idea.

I had such phenomen a few times (out of tens of thousands of pictures). I always removed batteries and after that the camera was fully operational.
