Got an email from acomdata tech, that the drive was going to crash and should remove files before it did; well, did not and now cannot access drive at all. Note: firewire only.
I am going to try to connect it to an old iMac I have in my possession and see if I can get it to be recognized. I hope like hell too or I will have a nice looking paperweight.
Next, will try online software recovery products and maybe Spinrite.
Sorry, I cannot be more helpful than this.
Well you'll need to be more specific! Does the PC at least pick up the device? Does it come up when you plug it in? Is it in the safely remove hardware list? (Left click on the green arrow by the system clock) Does it show in device manager? Is it a new drive or have you used it before? There could be several reason why the drive is not coming up! regards, babb

I'm having the same problem. My PC does not recognize my external HD. The external HD just blinks red and blue. No noise. Not showing up in device manager.
I've tried both ports on the drive and both firewire ports on my Mac G4. The blue light on the drive is steady, but the computer doesn't recognize the drive. It worked very well since I bought it about a year ago, but now it doesn't.
The light is red. The computer does not recognize the hard drive.
Mine was working perfectly fine until i stoped using it for a while.
i plug it in to my computer the computer doesnt recognize it or anything.
the light stays solid blue all the time.
im using the usb cord that came with it.
I have a new Imac, with OS 10.5.2, using my Acomdata HD as a backup with the Time Machine function. It was working fine for a few days, but the HD is no longer being recognized by my computer. The HD is on (steady blue light) but it doesn't appear on my desktop (I've tried my laptop as well, with no luck). I've tried all sorts of combinations: plugging it in after the computer is turned on, plugging it in before it's on, turning the HD off and then on again, etc. Please help!
my laptop nor my desktop will recognize the HD. The blue light is on.I have tried reconnecting every connection. I hear a slight ticking noise coming from the HD.
Have been using the Acomdate 250 GB hard drive for about a year now with no problem. Moved desktop to another room in house and set everything up (cable modem, monitor, keyboard, printer, ext. hd) in same ports as before. Now computer doesn't recognize the drive. Red light came on briefly but after shut down and start up has been blue ever since. Device Mgr does not show drive and drive does not appear under safely remove hardware. Please help. I've disconnected and reconnected to other slots using USB and have replaced the USB cable.
also not showing up on the computer at all...same small clicking noise coming from the unit and the blue light is on. I am also concerned that this drive was switched to a DVD/CD ram drive...any chance that makes sense. I am not computer fancy just want to get my external working.
my macbook pro will not recognize my external hard drive?
I've had my acomdata for about 2 years. I've had no problems with it until about 2 weeks ago. It was then I noticed it taking several minutes to "recognize" my drive when i turned it on. it used to boot up immediately and be recognized as the "H" drive but now nothing. The blue light is on as usual, but nothing beyond that.
I have change the usb cord and tried other usb ports on my computer. No change. I did notice that the drive felt warm a few days ago. I'm not sure if the drive turns like it does in my "C" drive, but there is now internal noise at all.
any help?
