I'm having the same problem. My PC does not recognize my external HD. The external HD just blinks red and blue. No noise. Not showing up in device manager.

I've tried both ports on the drive and both firewire ports on my Mac G4. The blue light on the drive is steady, but the computer doesn't recognize the drive. It worked very well since I bought it about a year ago, but now it doesn't.

I have a new Imac, with OS 10.5.2, using my Acomdata HD as a backup with the Time Machine function. It was working fine for a few days, but the HD is no longer being recognized by my computer. The HD is on (steady blue light) but it doesn't appear on my desktop (I've tried my laptop as well, with no luck). I've tried all sorts of combinations: plugging it in after the computer is turned on, plugging it in before it's on, turning the HD off and then on again, etc. Please help!

my laptop nor my desktop will recognize the HD. The blue light is on.I have tried reconnecting every connection. I hear a slight ticking noise coming from the HD.

Have been using the Acomdate 250 GB hard drive for about a year now with no problem. Moved desktop to another room in house and set everything up (cable modem, monitor, keyboard, printer, ext. hd) in same ports as before. Now computer doesn't recognize the drive. Red light came on briefly but after shut down and start up has been blue ever since. Device Mgr does not show drive and drive does not appear under safely remove hardware. Please help. I've disconnected and reconnected to other slots using USB and have replaced the USB cable.

also not showing up on the computer at all...same small clicking noise coming from the unit and the blue light is on. I am also concerned that this drive was switched to a DVD/CD ram drive...any chance that makes sense. I am not computer fancy just want to get my external working.

my macbook pro will not recognize my external hard drive?

  • BennPsalms Aug 11, 2008

I've had my acomdata for about 2 years. I've had no problems with it until about 2 weeks ago. It was then I noticed it taking several minutes to "recognize" my drive when i turned it on. it used to boot up immediately and be recognized as the "H" drive but now nothing. The blue light is on as usual, but nothing beyond that.

I have change the usb cord and tried other usb ports on my computer. No change. I did notice that the drive felt warm a few days ago. I'm not sure if the drive turns like it does in my "C" drive, but there is now internal noise at all.
    any help?

Got an email from acomdata tech, that the drive was going to crash and should remove files before it did; well, did not and now cannot access drive at all. Note: firewire only.

I am going to try to connect it to an old iMac I have in my possession and see if I can get it to be recognized. I hope like hell too or I will have a nice looking paperweight.

Next, will try online software recovery products and maybe Spinrite.

Sorry, I cannot be more helpful than this.

Well you'll need to be more specific! Does the PC at least pick up the device? Does it come up when you plug it in? Is it in the safely remove hardware list? (Left click on the green arrow by the system clock) Does it show in device manager? Is it a new drive or have you used it before? There could be several reason why the drive is not coming up! regards, babb

Fuji finepix won't connect to computer

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Why won't my hard drive show up after I restart my computer?

I'll Suggest you to open the case and connect the hard driver data cable connector to other port in the mother board. Second thing you can do is change the data cable of hard drive and try with other one.
Third thing you can do is check if your SMPS is providing proper Voltage or not.
Try above steps and let me know the results.

Gateway mp8708 s/n t23691006485 showing disk error won't boot just shows disk error help me

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

I have a dell dimension 3000 series desktop and when I turn it on it does not get passed POST and tells me the following: primary drive 0 not found primary drive 1 not found gives me the option of F1...

This normally means that the Hard Drive is not recognized, and most likely can be attributed through a crashed hard drive. If it's not POSTing, then I think you need to look for loose cords/cables as well. That can cause the hard drive to not be recognized.

My external hard disk is not working properly. i can see the icon in drivers and printers but there is no folderor icon to open

Please remove the usb cable and try to connect do you see the notification new hardware found if yes just check my computer dose the hard drive shows over there if yes and double click on it dose it open if yes and the hard drive is empty .
then go back right click on the hard drive check properties dose it show the empty and the full graphs if it shows full and dosnt show the drive letter.
then right click on the my computer icon on the desktop go to manage and diskmanage ment check the hard drive over ther dose it show its unformated or un initialized if no dose it have drive letter on it if no then right click on the drive and say change drive letter and assigned one letter like h or g and check in my computer now dose it appair.if still so try changing the usb cable may its defective.
if dosent detect at all could be your hard drive case so you can remove the hard drive from inside the case and connect it directly.in the computer if works backup your data abd return backthe hard drive in the case and if its still in gurentee return it to the service center.

I can't access my drive, even though all my tests say it's fine.

Right click on my computer and click manage then click on disk management. Find your drive and give it a drive letter. It probably just needs a drive letter so you can recognize it in my computer,,,Good Luck and let me know if this works...Darren
