Is this a single pole switch? Or a timer switch that is rated for 277V? Or a dimmer switch?
Please include brand and model number and what you are controlling when adding comment to this thread.

277Volt has one hot wire and one neutral wire, exactly like 120volt.
Just like ordinary on-off switch for 120v, the 277 Volt hot wire is switched on-off, while the neutral remains continuous throughout the circuit.

How to wire a cooper Quadra Mark MH 277 Volt light

Quadra mark is commercial metal halide light
It appears the 208-240 480V model is different from 120, 277 or 347V model.
You cannot connect 277Volt light to 240Volt
These are two different things.
Commercial 277V has 1 hot leg and a neutral (very similar to residential 120V which also has 1 hot leg and neutral)
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/How-to-wire-outlets-14.jpg
While residential 240V has 2 hot legs
http://waterheatertimer.org/See-inside-main-breaker-box.html

Check rating label on light and see if it shows 120V in addition to 277V
If rating plate shows 120V, then it should work.

Residential 240Volt has 2 hot legs, each Hot leg measures 120V to ground
So you can use one Hot leg from the 240Volt breaker, and use ground wire to make 120Volt circuit.
Using ground wire to complete circuit in this manner is completely out of code and not recommended by any professional electrician. But it will work.

I just purchased a Cooper Wiring Device 277W-box w/pilot light. The current switch in my home is next to another light switch which operates my hallway light. The other switch (the one I want to install...

Open following link for wiring diagram with written instructions.
Some of your wiring does not sound up to code.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-Cooper-277-pilot-light-switch.htm

1) Two differences between regular switch and cooper 277
-Different color screws: Regular switch has two brass screws, and either wire can connect to either screw. Cooper 277 has dark, brass, silver screws, and hot wire connects to dark screw, and wire to light connects to brass screw.
-Cooper needs neutral wire connected to silver screw, to power the indicator light.

2) Some of the wiring in your box does not sound up to code.
Bare ground wire should not be connected to black and white wires.
Electrician should check this out.
Probably the ground wire is being used as a Neutral. Bare ground wires and white neutral wires both connect to neutral busbar at main breaker box.

I am trying to wire a cooper 277 swich to control an outlet. I am having a hard time getting it to work. I have followed the wiring diagram with no luck. I would like the Pilot to be on when the switch is...

Open following link for cooper 277 wiring illustration:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Cooper-277-pilot-400.jpg

Wired as shown in illustration, the pilot light and the Load will come on each time switch is turned on.
The illustration show Load is light bulb.
In your case, the Load will be an outlet instead of light bulb.
So the Load will have 2 wires. The black wire from switch connects to brass screw on outlet. The neutral connects to silver screw.
Bare ground wires connect to green screws.

I have a intermatic model # T7402B that I'm getting ready to install and I'm a little confuse on how to install the power to the motor clock it shows a letter A is this for power supply and I assume that...

I'm not 100% familiar with 3 phase 277V.

T7402B manual shows clock is 208-277
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/t7401b%20-%20english.ashx
T7402B > the manual does not specify terminal A or B.
On other Intermatic timers, Neutral goes to A and then Hot wire connects to B
Load terminals are wired separately and carry up to 40Amp

Have old t104 timer, clock motor went out, looking for new one . its the old round motor, has a w-163 stamped on back

I believe this is the part you require:
WG233-18 You can order it direct from www.intermaticstore.com.

Note this is a 208-277V timer motor. If you're running this on 120V it won't work.

Where do you connect the clock

The T104 is a 208-277 clock so the motor must be connected to that voltage (220V) The motor should already be connected to terminals 1&3 These wouuld be the terminals to connect your line voltage to. You can view a manual here:
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/t104%20-%20english.ashx
