The flickering is caused by fluctuating frequency due to engine speed, thes egenerators really are not recommened for powering home systems. It shows up in flourescents when the freq dips around 57HZ and 63HZ

240v genset is flickering from 240-225v could this b the regulator my lights are flickering

It seems the light your seeing is undercurrent light. Could be a few things. I propose you call tech support for your brand. They will be happy to assist. Or look at troubleshooting manual and see what to check when undercurrent light is lit. Might have adjustment on regulator or could be bad.

My generator works but the lights in my house pulse. Any ideas?

You can think of AC power as a sine wave. It goes from 0 to its peak, back to zero, to its negative peak, and back to zero. This is called a "cycle". Your generator puts out a certain voltage (probably 120/240) at a certain "frequency" (probably 50 or 60 HZ). 60 HZ (hertz) means that 60 "cycles" happen each second. Essentially, in one second, voltage falls to zero 120 times. So all lights flicker, even when connected to the utility (just so fast that your eyes can't pick it up).

With that said, how evident is the flickering? Are these lights incandescent, flourescent, HID? How many watts (or kilowatts) is the generator rated to output; how much power is being drawn?

Why do my headlights flicker off and on i own a 1966 mustang

Best guess would be corroded ground wire connections to body and maybe a bad regulator off of the alternator/generator. In that respect the power would not be constat from the charging system and the bad ground may make you lights flicker from no clean connection.

I have a 1979 harly davidson soprster, i have re

There is no need for a resistor of any kind. The light should be run with the feed coming from the power breaker and the ground side connected to the “A” post of the Generator. Resistors were added by some companies to prevent the light from flickering at low RPMs. If the Generator is working properly there is no need for a resistor. Be sure to polarize the generator properly as failing to polarize the generator is the most common cause of a Gen light that won't go out.
