The battery of my Dell Latitude D600 is not charging fully. It only runs for 10 minutes when fully charged. Moreover, the battery indicator flashes 4 times red and one time green. Is it the battery problem or one should replace power cord. I can only run my laptop when connected directly to power.

That sounds like a bad battery. Be sure not to leave charger plugged into your computer while not plugged into power or the power switched off. That will really kill your weak battery and then you won't have 10 minutes. You can live okay with a battery like yours but if you ever need to replace ram or do a serious BIOS update the bad battery will not alallow it.

Battery indicator flashing red when running on battery or on main supply and battery is 75% charged

When your battery indicator is flashing Red, it usually means that the charger is defective.

Dell also had a recall on some of its batteries. To see if you qualify for a free replacement click here: http://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/

If you want to reset your battery utility follow these steps:

1. Let the battery run completely dead. (Make sure all your work is saved)

2. Fully charge battery (You may still have flashing lights but if you turn your computer on and enter BIOS you can see the charge level)

3. Once again run battery dead.

4. Remove battery and wait 5-10 minutes.

5. Replace battery and use in normal operation.

Orange light just began flashing on my Dell inspiron 5100...everything else is fine! What's happening?

The battery is less than 100% charged; if it were fully-charged, the lamp would be green.

If it is "flashing", it's probably less than 10% charged.
Recharge it.

We have a Dell latitude d600 and the old battery had gone bad some time ago, would charge, but lasted maybe 10 minutes. We bought a new OEM Dell battery for it, and put it on charge all night. The charge...

Sounds like you should try a regular Dell factory refurbished battery. Or if not that, try a battery that you knows works for sure. Then try charging it up, if it doesn't charge up then you know its a situation with the motherboard.

My Dell laptop's battery charging circuit faulty.

try to remove your batt and check if laptop works fine with ac adapter alone.

if yes then put batt in then check how much charge you have if you have about 10% then update the bios immediately.

if fails then have the batt replaced.

Fully charged..why is the orange light flashing

could be that you are used to keep the laptop connected to the ac powerall the time, and the battery slowly died every day, and now it's to the lowest level it could be.

Flashing device status light

Ok the lightning bolt is your power indicator: solid green-charging, Flashing green-fully charged, flashing red-low battery, flashing red three times the once green-bad battery. the "trash can" looking one is your hard drive activity indicator it will flash while your hard drive is reading and writing.

Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

my suggestion is that you allow the batteries to fully recharge(which only happens when the computer is fully off, when the battery is deep discharged.

that will take around 6 to 10 hours each..
