Why doesn't my tv show the picture in 1080p? HD DVR hooked up with HDMI cables, still only shows in 720. How do I get 1080p?

This might not be the tv's fault. Have you tried checking the HD PVR outputs in full HD. If it does see if there is a display setting that allows you to set the resolution to 1080p. Once you're sure the signal is 1080p then start looking through the TV's settings (or maybe simpler would be to check the manuals - you can usually find them online quite easily).

Insignia TV won't pick up 1080p from Blu Ray

hi there, you did not mention what you are actually watching on the bluray player, i.e is it 720p or 1080p ?. Also, how do you know it is actually 1080p from your cable box ?. And what is the model number of your TV ?.

The other day my plasma was on and everything was fine. Connected to it is a charter DVR. Suddenly the picture and sound went out. I have a PS3 also hooked up to it and it displays and sounds fine. I...

Most likelly it is your DVR that has a problem. Their are a lot of issues with those DVR's from the cable or satellite companies. I would recomend swapping it out.

Connecting Ps3 with philips tv (full hd) when i got hd cable in, and click to switch so the ps3 uses hd to show things and i than switch over to the channel i plugin the hdmi cabel it gives blac kscreen

If it's the first time using your PS3, use the composite cables that came with it. Turn on the PS3 go to video settings and switch the input to HDMI. After you've switched to HDMI, turn the PS3 off and connect your HDMI cable, go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If this isn't the first time you've used HDMI for your PS3, make sure your T.V. is on the correct input. If the T.V. is on the correct input, try switching the HDMI cable to a different input. If that doesn't work try using a different HDMI cable, testing different HDMI connections if you're still getting the black screen. If none of those work then it's probably a problem with the PS3, but just to make sure try plugging something else with HDMI to see if that works. If another HDMI device works, then it's your PS3, if it doesn't then it could be a problem with your HDMI connections on the T.V.

I just bought a used ps3 i hook it up to my emerson hd tv and it shows format not supported , i then hooked it up to my poleroid hd tv and it works fine this all thru the hdmi cable

What are the specs on your emerson, does it support 1080p? Make sure you have the right settings on your ps3. If your emerson supports 720p and 1080i then it will not give you a 1080p picture and you might run into issues.

Hooking xbox360 up for HD in component 1

Thats the highest setting, for component, that TV will show. it really is that simple. You would need HDMI connector to possibly go any higher. but I think you will find it is the TV.

How do I get from 480 to 1080p on my tv? I have an HD box on my vizio 42 inch tv but my channels are still showing 480?

1080P is a quality you'll only get with a blue ray quality video. Therefore, you won't get 1080P on cable tv. If your cable provider has HD channels available, you'll be able to get 720 or 1080i quality video (on those channels only). For the best quality, make sure you are using an HDMI cable. Just be sure your cable box supports an HDMI output. Your Vizio definately supports that type of input. If you have a PS3 or alternative blue ray player, you'll be able to watch 1080P.
