I own 2 of these Pioneer VSX-D903S units.

The only way to hook a powered subwoofer up to a VSX-D903S is if your subwoofer is equipped with amplified/speaker level terminals on the back, in addition to the line-level input. If you only have a line-level input, do not attempt to hook it up to this receiver.

If you're lucky, and have speaker-level inputs on your powered subwoofer, you would use the amplified terminals (connect to B-channel on the receiver). DO NOT connect anything to the line-level connection.

Alternatively, you could build two unpowered subwoofers, then set the receiver's Impedance switch to LOW, then connect one enclosure to each of the "B-channel" outputs. Connect your regular left and right speakers to their corresponding "A-channel" outputs. [Impedance range: 4 Ohm minimum, 16 Ohm Maximum]

Kenwood vr606 reciever shutting off subwoofer and centre speaker simultaneously after few minutes/seconds of powering on. WHat's the cause?

The receiver's out put sections are grouped in pairs. Front left and right in one output, rear left and right in second output, and center channel and sub output on the third. Sounds like a semiconductor or semiconductors have gone bad in the center & sub output.

Connecting a passive subwoofer to a denon 2113

you need another reciever/amp to power that sub, because that denon reciever is designed for a powered sub,. if you have another old reciever/amp laying around, you can connect the sub out from the denon into an auxillary input of any old reciever/amp, (switched to that input) with speaker wires from old reciever/amp to the passive sub

I have a true sunfire sub and an onkyo 703 that has an rca connection for the sub. My question is do I connect my side channel polk 65's directly to the sub in jacks or directly to the reciever? If

The input jacks on the subwoofer panel are for connection of satellite speakers to it's crossover. The outputs are for the crossed over signal input to your receiver or amplifier, as there will be no amplification or channel processing from the subwoofer connection. It's only an optional crossover that may have a sonic advantage over the crossover in your receiver.

What you also can do is connect the speakers directly to the 703 and set the crossover frequency on it.

Power sub woofer is not working on my pioneer vsx-81txv everything is working all the speakers except the power sub connection at the back all i can hear is the hissing sound when i try to connect the sub...

Hissing? How loud? A sub isn't even capable of making high frequency sounds at normal volumes.

The Pioneer manual would tell you how to enable and test the subwoofer output.

What does the sw level setting do?

hello.. the sw level is short for your subwoofers volume setting .when you use a subwoofer thats powered and connect it to your recievers sub out, this is than a way to adjust the subs volume from your seating position rather than only adjusting it from the back of the sub.. i recommend putting your subs volume(on the back of the sub itself) to midpoint and playing a bass heavy song or movie and adjusting the sub level on the reciever to how you like it.. enjoy

Subwoofer VERY weak

According to the KLH manual for the 9906 "6 pack" with the BassBite sub... it says "if your sub is connected via the speaker - level terminals, your reciever must be set for "NO" subwoofer - even though you are using one. VErify proper polarity on your speaker connection wires. (red or gold to +, black or silver to -). Depending on how you have your woofer connected to the reciever, if connected to a reciever without a subwoofer out then set your reciever for LARGE speakers and turn the subwoofer setting "OFF". Failure to do so will result in little to no bass. If you do have a subwoofer out from your reciever adjust your speaker size setting to small or large speakers as appropriate. Set the recievers sub output to ON. Connecting small speakers to a reciever set for LArge speakers can result in damage to small speakers.

Hope this helps.
