My EA60 wont get past boot-up it's asking for a restore disc that I don't have. Toshiba say it's too old to provide one. Can I use Windows XP to boot
Yes you can use XP and restore/reinstall your computer
Sorry, forgot to white that you going to need drivers for your pc after installation, you can find them at the Toshiba sport site.

Insert the Toshiba A60 recovery disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
Power off the Toshiba (with the recovery disc still loaded inside the optical drive).
Release the "F12" key when the" In Touch with Tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen is displayed. This will open up the BIOS.
Change the boot order by using the arrow keys to select "CD/DVD ROM" icon in the menu. The Toshiba will now boot from the recovery disc and restore the system. Follow any additional on-screen instructions.
