Which Password? Bios Password?Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen User Logon Password?
Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista?Windows 7?OK,if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened security on it so you've gotto have a password reset disk which 99% of the people who own laptops withwindows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the first things you do whenyou buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced with reinstalling theOperating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.
If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:
Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator(hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once thedesktop appears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the iconsbigger, but this is normal for safe mode.
Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.
Reboot your machine.
