Can't fire properly at 90 degrees

I've just bought a Metz 60CT-4. I was testing, bouncing its head at several positions and I noticed that at normal position (90 degrees) it doesn't fire regularly. The pictures get too dark. When I bounce it for any side, the pictures come out right. I really appreciate any help. Also, the flash lenses seems a little green colored and faded. Could it be an overused old unit or should I replace the lenses?

Did you buy this used? Maybe the following problems: wires inside are loose or cold soldered. Flash tube has coated with film coating or flash head(inside)is dirty. Alexander [email protected]

Hey, You can engage a mechanical engineer to design a mouting fixture.Depends on how professional you are. If you need a quick " McGiver" fix --- duck tape will do.

Hi Tom,

The battery is Metz Accu 60-38 4.5Ah at 6VDC
VRLA Battery 100 20 4010

Any Pb battery at 4.5Ah or higher will do.
Toy & Us sells some of them for kid cars.

Is the top dial set on AUTO?

Is the sensor window clean or obstructed?

Checking both of these may solve your problem. Do you have a Manual for this flash? There are free pdf downloads on the I/Net.

Did you buy this used or new?

If used: neck has broken/shorted wires.
Try fires with the Test Button in A mode with hand blocking sensor and then without. Move head around.
