You should check the temperature of the water coming out from the machine when it show that is heated. If it is lower than 90 C then the thermostat inside the machine attached to the boiler is need to be replaced. If the temperature of the water is about 90C then the problem is with thermometer, and in this case is only an accesorie since the machine can faction properly and make a good espresso.

Some leaking from the group head of the machine is totally normal while the machine is heating. The reason for this is that the valve that sits above the shower screen is simply a spring and rubber ball. The spring expands, creating a seal with the rubber ball and the boiler, once the boiler reaches a specific temperature. Until the boiler temp is reached, leaking from the group head will occur.

Check the group head shower, make sure it does not have any defects(cracks, scratches or unusually large holes).

SOURCE: Francis Francis fuse defective?

Hi
If you have power its not likely the fuse. It could be the heating element or the board.

Francis Francis x1 on switch power light on but no heating light, pump working ok, steamer switch heats the water ok & on light works. What's the cause? Is it the temperature probe?

The most common reason the heating element isn't heating, theres a heat sensitive fuse in-line with the element. When they blow the units dead.
Can be replaced by an appliance repair shop. Look in the yellow pages. (Do the yellow pages still exist)?

I bought a second hand Francis Francis X1 Espresso Coffee Machine & the gauge & Milk frother are no longer working. Any advice?

Perhaps the heating element is broken. Does it heat up at all? If not, the steamer won't work and there will be nothing for the gauge to register.
