Dropped in some water. Dried it out ok and it switched on fine. However does not display any signal strength even though it is showing that the connectivity is enabled (top left of display). I had it in my pocket when at the garage filling my car up and it suddenly started working, showing good signal strength but by the time I got home the problem had returned.

this problem is because of water which is dried over some components inside ur phone. take it to technician, it need to be cleaned from inside with acetone, if problem still stays then it need to be repaired very minor.thanks.
SOURCE: though it shows network signal excellent does not to the net wort
How is your router set up? Are you using WPA or WEP security? WEP is the newer encryption and I'm affraid 9500 doesn't support this. Would try update firmware and hope that Nokia integrated fix for this in to the update.
Rate me if it helped. Thanks.

If your (bad) luck is holding, low-level circuits have been damaged by current from elsewhere, especially if trying to connect since this uses circuits capable of much higher power than the low-level ICs were intended to deal with.
Since it isn't working anyhow, try this:
Add a drop (not more) of dish detergent to a couple of quarts of warm distilled water - no product that has anything added to the water.
Remove the battery from your phone, dunk it into the solution and swirl it a bit to ensure penetration of the solution.
Rinse it in distilled water only, shake out whatever you can without slamming against anything.
Allow it to dry (battery compartment open) in any warm place such as a sunny railing, window sill, etc. for at least two days.
I have used this method successfully on a number of electronic items with good success.
The most extreme incident was a word processor I serviced (many moons ago) belonging to an author who had weeks of work stored in the unit when his tom-cat decided it was a good place to urinate.
Good luck-

First remove the Simcard from the phone, test the SIM card on a different phone, and see if you get same reception problem in the office. If the problem depends on the phone, then internal aerial contact is broken, get a replacement phone . If problem depends on the SIM , then call the phone company, it may be a network problemt, or a reception problem because this company has poor field in the office area.
