i can hear the game but cannot see it

I have the same problem and I have Windows Vista Premium Dell pc. I tried installing it with using the compatibility wizard and then used the compatibility wizard to try and play the game but my screen was all black and the mouse/cursor wasn't seen. So it was disabled in the game but I could hear the audio on the game. I just bought this pc last year and it's a multimedia computer system. I used to play this game on my old pc (before it was stolen) and I had Windows 98 then and everything worked fine on that pc.

Yeah. i have the same problem. i installed it today after using it on my old computer and i can hear it but cant see the game. i think it has something to do with Vista

Does ANYBODY have a solution!?! I have the same problem and I have Windows Vista as well. Tried compatibility wizard, nothing is helping. The answer provided is NO GOOD. If we have Vista, of course we have a better graphics card. I know ours is an accelerated one. So please... someone must have an answer!!

Microsoft Windows 98 was an operating system used on a majority of personal computers from 1998 to 2000. Because of this, there are a variety of games available to play on Windows 98, but are incompatible with later versions of Windows. If you have Windows XP or higher, you have access to a "Compatibility Mode" that allows your computer to play those games. Activating compatibility mode is a simple procedure.

Right-click the file that you usually click on when you are trying to start a game.

Select the "Properties" option in the drop-down menu.

Select the "Compatibility" tab, then check the "Windows 98" box.

Select the proper video mode for your game under "Display Settings."

Select the "Apply" button to save your settings, and select "OK."

Double-click on your game's file to begin playing the game.

The problem is that this game is for WINDOWS 98.. Compatibility mode doesn't seem to work to get this game running. I bought it back in 1999 and we had a windows 98 SE box and it ran smoothly, I've personally never been able to get it to work on windows XP/Vista/7 .. There is a pop up "This game is designed for windows 98, we will install it provided you have 2000" aka this game is designed to work with the old FAT32 OS not NTFS

If you JUST bought this game, return it.. it'll never work ..

I've even tried making a disk image and ran daemon tools.. nada

Check the system requirements and look at the graphics card. If it doesn't match with yours (below it), then get a new graphics card.
ps. Whats your operating system???

How to download super mario 64

You can download a Super Mario 64 rom and a Nintendo 64 emulator and you will be able to play this game on your computer. Click on the link below.

http://www.freeroms.com/n64.htm

  1. On the site, click one of the hyperlinks to download an emulator, I recommend Project 64 v1.6
  2. Click Super Mario 64 to download the rom (it should be under "Top 20 Most Popular N64 ROMS")
  3. Install Project 64 and then open it.
  4. On the Project 64 window, choose "File" > "Open Rom" and find the Super Mario 64 rom that you downloaded, double click it. And that's it! The game will start and you can begin playing :)
On another note, I also recommend using a usb gamepad controller, like a MadCatz Xbox 360 GamePad controller, they work great for these kind of games.
- I hope this helps, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask :)

Do they sell these games anymore?

This is an older game and doesn't seem to be sold by anyone but Amazon. You can buy this game at Amazon. Just follow the link.

Be warned that you may have some difficulty getting this game to run with Windows 7.

HOw do I repair the Scattergories timer?

Hi. I hope you've found an alternate timer to use, if you haven't figured it out elsewise, in the meantime. I came across this link: http://myeclecticrandomness.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-fix-scattergories-timer.html while looking for the answer myself. It appears there may be different models, as the one featured in this link shows hooks at ends of spring whereas mine does not have these. Thus, I've had a little more difficulty getting things all aligned and working properly, but that is no fault of these instructions, which include the steps and real pictures. Good luck! and good gaming.

Windows 7 will not read 95/98 version of scattergories wahat can I do

Wow, big OS problem here.

Windows 7 and Vista both have a serious problem playing games for the previous OS's (XP, ME, 2000, 98/95, 3.1). There are sometimes fixes that you can find on the web (download such and such driver or whatever.) but these only work about 15% of the time. Your best bet to get it to work is to find the .exe file that runs the game itself (right click on the shortcut and click "open file location"). When you find the .exe, right click on that and go to properties, then click the "compatability" tab. At this tab you can set the compatability settings to try and get the game to work. THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. If it doesn't, then most likely the game is simply too old to work on an OS as recent as windows 7. At that point your best bet is to hunt for a more recent version of the game you want to play (one that is compatable with win7)

Super Scattergories compatible with Windows 7

julyallan01_33.jpgMaybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

While playing hasbro scattergories game shuts down

If you're running windows Xp/Vista/7 this game isn't designed to run on it. This game was originally made for 98/ME and compatibility mode doesn't seem to get it to work.. if it does work it doesn't work for long. Personally, I think it's for FAT32 file systems .. not NTFS

Scattagories Exits Suddenly

You're able to get it to run on XP all the way through? I commend you! It's designed to run on a Fat32 OS (98/ME) instead of NTFS (Xp and newer) .. I personally own the game and I've made images, and all sorts of work arounds, never been able to get it to work all the way. On XP it'd start up and play, but exit to desktop with no warning. On windows 7 (aka newer vista) it plays, but no video, just sound.
