Vizio VW42LFHDTV10A has no picture and no sound. The tv turns on fine but it was dropped before. So when the screen is on, it looks like as if it had a glass screen and it was cracked and there are green and blue lines but no physical cracks are on the screen just looks like it comes from the inside. Tried pressing menu or changing channel buttons but it stays on black/green,blue line cracked screen. Im trying to fix it myself with no experience. Is it possible to fix? is it worth fixing?

It sounds like you have tried changing imputs " usually the issue". The next step is to see if it is still under warranty and get an estimate of how much it will cost to fix. Invest in a good surge protector.

I agree your screen is cracked. It's smooth to the touch because you're not actually touching the LCD section of the screen, just the protective coating. The advantage of owning an LCD TV over plasma... you can replace the screen either by going to the manufacturer or some place like e-bay. It's not a difficult thing to do if you take your time and pay attention to the details.
Good Luck

You need to take in the TV for repair. It needs to have the screen replaced. It might not be worth fixing since the screen nearly costs the same as a new TV. If it was damaged by accident warranty might not cover the replacement of the screen.

LCD's use a colorful crystal see through display which only visible when light is shining through it. if you have sound and no picture it's always a faulty PSU. Very easy to change out actually.

I had the same problem. I bought the TV with the same symptoms and couldn't find a solution. So just on a hunch I tried different button combinations on the front of the TV while I turned the main power switch on in the rear. One I got to the Channel up and Channel down the TV came to life and works great. So just hold those 2 buttons down at the same time while you flip the switch on the back. Hold them for about 10 seconds and then you should be good to go.
