hi,thanks for speedy replies,i should have stated that the computer was bought from ebay and has no COA for o/s,thus no recovery cd.have used validation key tool also from ebay to get passed validation.all this means no recovery discs of any nature, hence my start up problems are multiplied.

Get out of safe mode

Hi!

If you're starting up your computer, press F8 before the Windows logo appears and select "Start Windows Normally".

If you need to exit it whilst inside of Safe Mode (booted into Windows), follow the instructions below:

How to Exit Safe Mode

Hope this helps!

How to start in safe mode?

While the computer is initially booting up, press F8 (repeatedly if necessary), you should be presented with a selection screen to boot into safe mode (various levels such as with or without networking) or to boot normally. The F8 key only works while the computer is going through the BIOS startup procedure.

I have a problem on my computer i reformat my comp to windows xp sp3 but it dosnt have a sound ive tried to install real tech but it allways restart my computer what should i do?

try booting in safe mode. keep pressing F8 when the computer boots up till a screen with options come. select safe mode with networking. if it boots, then install avira antivirus(it is available for free download). seems like a worm/virus. if not i recommend reinstallation.
my suggestion with my personal experience is to get a clean new installation and be cautious about connecting drives/ network before a antivirus is installed.

Safe mode

You can also force the system into safe mode. You click on startup and type in msconfig. Click the general tab and select diags and the system will reboot to safe mode. Change it back to normal to get your system out of safe mode.

I would suggest that you run only one stick of Ram at a time to determine if they are the problem.. Also these CPU's had heat problems that damaged the cpu. This also causes freezing. I would consider resetting the CPU and the heat sink, and case fans are clean and working.

Won't boot

Try pressing F8 as your machine gets ready to start windows. Keep tapping it until you get a menu. You can try "most recent settings that worked" or failing that try starting Windows in safe mode. If it will start in safe mode regress it to a point before your failed download using System Restore. If it won't start at all, you may need to reinstall Windows.
