Most of the spyware programs on the Internet that will infect your computer log the websites you visit so that they can launch pop-ups and advertise products for you to buy.
If you have recurring pop-ups caused by spyware that appear whenever you connect to the Internet, you will need to completely remove the spyware causing the problem.
The most effective way to remove all spyware from your machine is to use at least two different antispyware programs while your computer is in safe mode so that the spyware cannot open itself.
Navigate your web browser to a website that offers a spyware removal utility such as "Spybot" or "Lavasoft Adaware".

http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html spybot
http://www.lavasoft.com/ lavasoft
Download and install the antispyware software.
Navigate to a second website and download a secondary antispyware utility.
Restart your computer and wait for the manufacturer's logo to appear on the screen.
Press the "F8" key repeatedly until a new menu pops up.
Scroll down through the list of options and highlight the entry labeled as "Safe Mode."
Open up the first spyware utility you installed earlier once the operating system has finished loading in safe mode.
Click on the antispyware utility's "Update Now" button at the left side of the window.
Wait for the program to finish downloading the latest spyware detection routines.
Disconnect your computer from its Internet connection either by unplugging its Ethernet cable or by powering off your wireless router.
Click on the "Search For Problems" button above the "Update Now" button.
Wait for the program to finish scanning your computer's hard drive for spyware, and then click on the "Remove Selected Problems" button.
Close down the antispyware program.
Reconnect your computer to its Internet connection.
Open the second antispyware utility you downloaded earlier.
Run the program's update feature and then disconnect your computer from the Internet again.
Run the program's scan, and then remove any problems it finds.
Reconnect your Internet connection and then restart your computer to finish removing the recurring spyware pop-ups from your PC.
Hope this helps

Stop Internet Pop-Up Ads
Increased control over your computer and its security means less worrying about ********* attempts and virus infestations.
Part of security control when it comes to your computer is stopping pop-up ads from appearing while you surf the Internet.
Pop-up advertisements are not only annoying, but can also make your Internet connection seem slow.
In addition, some pop-up ads are designed to trick you into downloading malicious spyware and programs, which is why blocking pop-ups is a vital issue to the health of your computer system.
Download the latest version of either Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
All three of these Internet browsers contain built-in pop-up blockers.
Install the browser on your computer and open it when the installation process is complete.
Set the browser's pop-up ad blocker to its highest settings.
Click on the "Tool" tab in Internet Explorer and select the "Pop-up Blocker Settings."
Select the "High" setting in the Blocking Level drop-down menu to block all Internet pop-up ads.
In Mozilla Firefox, click the "Tools" menu and select "Options." Click the "Content" section and make sure the box that reads "Block pop-up windows" is checked.
Using Google Chrome, choose "Options" from the Tools menu.
Click on the "Under the Hood" section. In the Privacy section, choose "Content Settings" and confirm that the "Do not allow" radio button is selected in the "Pop-ups" tab section.
Download and install a free, pop-up blocking software program on your computer.
http://download.cnet.com/smart-popup-blocker/3000-7786_4-10282837.html
Set the software pop-up blocker to its maximum settings to block all pop-up advertisements. Add websites to the "exceptions" options in the blocker software to allow specific, safe sites from which you want to allow pop-up windows.
also
IE: 8 right click in the top toolbar select the command bar this will add it to the toolbar then on the far right hand side select the tools then from the drop down list pop up blocker make sure its turned on and settings

hope this helps
It's easy to learn how to stop pop ups, and you don't need to download pop up blocking software to get rid of those annoying ads. Just try these easy fixes before downloading a pop up blocker.
The first three methods assume you can use the software you already have. It's quick and simple, and you won't need any add-ons with these methods.
It takes only a few minutes to stop pop ups yourself, even if you are not technically oriented. If Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or Mozilla Firefox on a Windows Vista computer but these steps should work for any Windows compatible computer (although it may vary some if you have a different version of IE).
Here are four easy and quick ways to stop pop ups on your computer. You can use any one (or more) of these methods to get rid of those pesky pop up ads within minutes.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #1: Use Your Settings on Internet Explorer 7
Step 1: On Internet Explorer 7, go to "Tools", then "Internet Options"
Step 2: Click on the "Privacy" tab
Step 3: On the bottom, under "Pop-up Blocker", click the checkbox to "Turn on Pop-up Blocker". Click "Ok".
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #2: Use a Different Internet Browser (Firefox)
Try using Mozilla Firefox instead of IE because Firefox automatically blocks pop up windows (unlike Explorer). You can download Firefox at http://mozilla.current-version.com.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #3: Use Your Web Toolbar
You may already have the google or MSN toolbar installed on your browser. If you try this approach, you may also want to read my articles on how to stop pop ups with your Google toolbar and MSN toolbar.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #4: Download a Paid or Free Pop Up Blocker
If you've tried the above steps, and you're still having issues, then you should consider downloading a pop up blocker program.
Two reliable free pop up blockers include the Google toolbar and MSN toolbar. Another popular paid pop up blocker is at http://ivyliu.com/panicware.htm.
For everyday pop up blockers, the above methods should work. However, if you've tried all of these suggestions and you're still having problems with persistent pop-ups, then it's likely that you have been infected with spyware.
Summary of How to Stop Pop Ups
First, try changing your IE browser settings to block pop ups. If you have Google toolbar or MSN toolbar installed, then you already have a pop up blocker installed along with it. Try using the toolbars, or try switching to the Firefox browser.
Finally, you can also download a pop up blocker (free or paid). It's easy to stop pop ups without having to download pop up blockers.
If these steps do not remove your pop ups, then you may want to download a free or paid pop up blocker.
If that fails, then you probably are infected with spyware, which must be removed in order to get rid of ad pop ups.
But the above four methods should work to stop most pop up windows.
also if its interfering with your search provider
Create the menu tab on your homepage right click in the top toolbar you should see a number of toolbar options select the menu tab which will add File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help
Click on the tools at the bottom of the drop down list will be internet options or
Click start control panel internet options you will see a home page box To Create Page Tabs type
each adress on its own line (type in google.com) or your preferred home page and browser
below that will be change search defaults click on settings you will see all search Providers
Toolbar extensions and Accelerators you have if don't need any of them you can disable or remove them.
if its a program you might have to uninstall it.

Facebook's shortcuts

<p><span>For the ones who might not know, Facebook has a couple of shortcuts that can make your life much easier when browsing the famous social networking site.</span><br /> <p><span><br /></span><br /> <p><span>It depends on what browser you are using. Of course there are several differences for Mac users. If you are using Mozilla you need to tap <b>Shift + ALT</b>, not just <b>ALT. </b>Furthermore if you are using Internet Explorer you need to press the <b>Enter </b>key also. </span><br /> <p><span><br /></span><br /> <p><span>If you are using a Mac, you have to press <b>CTRL+ OPT, </b>instead of <b>ALT</b>.</span><br /> <p><span>The first shortcut is to create a <b>NEW MESSAGE</b>: <b>ALT + M.</b></span><br /> <p><span>Unfortunately this shortcut does not work at all in Internet Explorer, but if you are using Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox you can use it without any doubts. The shortcut for Firefox is: <b>SHIFT+ALT+M</b>.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The second shortcut helps us to <b>SEARCH</b> something: <b>ALT + ?.</b></span><br /> <p><span>The shortcut is common on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but for Firefox users must tap: <b>SHIFT + ALT + ?. </b>It is a quite useful shortcut because you can easily search all your friends.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>Third one is a very used one when you want to reload the first page. You can either hit <b>CTRL + R </b>or<b> ALT + 1</b> to access the <b>MAIN PAGE.</b></span><br /> <p><span>If you are using Firefox use <b>SHIFT + ALT + 1. </b>For Internet Explorer users tap <b>ALT + 1, then ENTER.</b></span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The forth shortcut brings you closer to your <b>PROFILE</b>: <b>ALT + 2.</b></span><br /> <p><span>So if you want to have a quick view of your profile hit <b>SHIFT + ALT +2 </b>in Firefox and <b>ALT + 2, then ENTER</b> for Internet Explorer. </span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The sixth one is for managing your <b>FRIEND REQUESTS</b>: <b>ALT + 3.</b></span><br /> <p><span>The shortcut is intended for popular users, which receive several requests per day. If you're a popular user that uses Firefox hit: <b>SHIFT + ALT + 3. </b>If you feel you're more popular with Internet Explorer use: <b>ALT + 3, then ENTER.</b></span><br /> <p><b><span> </span></b><br /> <p><span>Eighth- <b>MESSAGES: ALT + 4.</b></span><br /> <p><span>The shortcut opens the Messages page. While Firefox users must hit: <b>SHIFT + ALT + 4</b>, Internet Explorer users must tap: <b>ALT + 4, then ENTER.</b></span><br /> <p><b><span> </span></b><br /> <p><span>Bored already? You shouldn't, because there much more to come. The ninth - <b>NOTIFICATIONS: ALT + 5.</b></span><br /> <p><span>With this shortcut you can see all your new notifications:<span> </span><b>SHIFT + ALT + 5, </b>for Firefox and <b>ALT + 5, then ENTER </b>for Internet Explorer.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The tenth shortcut brings you closer to your <b>ACCOUNT SETTINGS: ALT + 6.</b></span><br /> <p><span>You may want to change some things on your profile, or update your relationship status, for example. You need to have access to your account settings. You must use <b>SHIFT + ALT + 6 </b>if you're a Firefox user, or <b>ALT + 6, then ENTER </b>if you're using Internet Explorer.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The eleventh shortcut is related to a very important thing: <b>PRIVACY SETTINGS: ALT + 7.</b></span><br /> <p><span>Your privacy is important so you have to have a good control on it. To access it use: <b>SHIFT + ALT + 7 </b>within Firefox and <b>ALT + 7, then ENTER </b>within Internet Explorer.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The twelfth is not an important one, but still opens the <b>FACEBOOK </b>page: <b>ALT + 8.</b></span><br /> <p><span>It is really not an important one. I do not think it is important to see Facebook's profile page. Firefox users ought to use: <span> </span><b>SHIFT + ALT + 8, </b>while Internet Explorer users ought to use: <b>ALT + 8, then ENTER.</b></span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>The thirteenth is closely regarded to <b>TERMS AND CONDITIONS: ALT + 9.</b></span><br /> <p><span>If you haven't read the terms, or you are curious what are your rights, or what rules you have to follow use: <b>SHIFT + ALT + 9 </b>in Mozilla Firefox and <b>ALT + 9, then ENTER </b>within Internet Explorer.</span><br /> <p><span> </span><br /> <p><span>Last, but not least, no Fourteenth <b>HELP</b>S you whenever you have some issues regarding the use of the social network:<span> </span><b>ALT + 0.</b></span><br /> <p><span>You may find here all the answers of your possible questions. <b>SHIFT + ALT + 9 </b>within Mozilla Firefox and <b>ALT + 0, then ENTER </b>in Internet Explorer.<b></b></span><br />

Compatibility problem?

What does it say ?
are you on the internet when it pops up ?
Internet pop-ups can be an annoyance.
These windows are usually associated with different forms of advertisements and at times can include viruses that can infect the computer.
Pop-ups do not have to be a part of computer use if the user does not desire this distraction. There are ways to stop pop-ups and prevent them from appearing unless desired.
Pop-up blocker allows the user to block these items and select which items to allow. Open Internet Explorer.
Click "Tools" from the menu bar. Tools can be found on the bar that lists "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help" directly beneath the address bar.
Click "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu.
Click the "Privacy" tab in the "Internet Options" box.
Click to check the box that says "Turn on pop-up blocker" in the "Pop-up Blocker" section of the menu.
Click "Apply" to save changes.
Click "OK" to close the "Internet Options" box.
The computer will now block all pop-ups from websites.
If downloading items from the Web, the computer will ask whether you would like to allow these items to be opened.
IE: 8 right click in the top toolbar select the command bar this will add it to the toolbar then on the far right hand side select the tools then from the drop down list pop up blocker make sure its turned on and settings

When I try to login facebook my computer now says internet explorer cant display this page, why? and how can this be corrected

This may or may not work, but try https:// instead of http://. If you look at the address bar at the top of internet explorer you should see it. Another thing to try is either updating internet explorer, or using a different web browser. Personally I like using the Chrome web browser but there are other excellent options like Firefox. Firefox is a little more convenient. If neither using https://, updating your browser, or downloading a new one works, than depending on the network you are using Facebook might be being blocked. (if you are at a school or at work). I hope this helps!

Latest Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx If you have windows 7 than you do not need that link up there. Chrome browser: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/landing_chrome.html?hl=en Firefox browser: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Save the file on the desktop and save it in a flash memory or a CD from a working computer and in the computer where your internet explorer is not working, install it and start using it. if it works then we have to update your computer with the latest internet explorer by using the link below.

Click on download now button and download the latest IE for your windows.

If the links did not work, nor your firefox works then you have to troubleshoot for a no internet issue which includes restarting your DSL modem and wireless router (if you have one)...
