Dell W2306C broken LCD

I have a Dell W2306C with broken LCD. The exterior screen surface doesn't even have a scratch, amazingly.

Does it require heroic effort and heroic tools to fix? I am pretty handy with electronics.

Looking for price and delivery.

Tnx!
Zac

    Thanks, hiwatt!

I took it apart and got a treasure trove of parts to play with. I even hooked up the speakers to a nice stereo I found in the dumpster at our apartment! I love free stuff!

I am looking for the wiring harness that goes from the control panel (the power on, volume up and down, and channel change board on the side of the tv) to the main board. It is a group of 10 very small wires about a foot long- you have no idea how difficult this is proving to be... can anyone help?!?!?!?!?!

I bought an Dell W2306C LCD/Monitor 5 years ago..the warranty ran out last October....and you guessed it the TV went on fire. I opened it up (since the warranty is void) and there is a board(715T1624-1...

I hate to "Rain on your parade" as it were, but at 5 years old, and the fact you have had a "Catastrophic Failure" really puts this monitor into the "Should-we-spend-good-money-after-bad" Really once a failure such as this occurs, it often places so much stress on the "Other" components, through the massive current draw, thats caused the initial failure. That it will just "Chain Fault" once repaired. This is in my experience anyway.

Dell w2306c needs power supply, do you know where I can find one?

Dell does not make TV's anymore but you can check www.partstore.com for a aftermarket part or www.ebay.com for TV with broken screens for parts ehter way here there is a resolve but you need to hunt.

Tear in lcd flat panel

If the scratch is in the frame surrounding the viewing area and the monitor still works, I wouldn't worry about it. However, if the scratch was caused by a drop, it is possible that an intermittent connection will eventually develop and make the monitor non-functional. See if you can get the seller to guarantee against it being "dead on installation".

To address your specific questions:

(1) No need to worry about electromagnetic leakage--LCD monitors don't work the same as CRTs (and even if they did, the scratch would have to be on the inner surface of the screen to allow for even the most minor chance of any radiation).

(2) If the scratch is all the way through the glass, the damage will likely get worse. If it's just a surface scratch, the risk to the picture is from any other damage that may have occurred internally along with the scratch (see the first paragraph, above).

(3) If the scratch is in the display area, make sure it doesn't significantly impair your viewing experience. It's not worth the time or money it would take to repair the cosmetic damage, so if you can't live with its continued presence, I'd pass on this offer.

In summary, if the display looks and works good and is a fabulous deal, then it's probably worth a shot. However, if the scratch is distracting or there are ANY picture quality problems that seem to be related (dead or stuck pixels, flickering, etc.) I'd approach it with extreme caution.
