Trying to hook up hdmi cord so I can watch hd

I'VE ALREADY DONE THAT, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE I can see in that is the sound changed. I was wondering since the hd cable inputs are only on audio outputs, are there no video for the hd,or do the cord translate both through the one cord?

I am very experienced with Home Theater installation. With more information on the devices you would like to connect, I can provide more specific directions.

Generally speaking, simply plug one end of the HDMI cable into your Blu-Ray player or HD cable box and the other end into an available HDMI port on your set.

Your set may have to be instructed in it 'Setup' to go to an HDMI video input mode.

I hope that helps.

The HDMI cord does support both audio and video on one cable.

If you provide me with model numbers of your tv and the device you would like to connect, I can walk you through your installation issues.

Use only the hdmi cord to hook it up and go to menu on the tv and select hdmi for hook up and you should get a picture. Make sure your cable cord is the only cord running to the cable box , you don't need any other cord.

Hdmi cord

the HDMI cable sends all the audio and video down one line, and unscrambles scrambled high def content when required, and fits in the rear of the tv, the slot looks very similair to a usb slot.

If you cable box has an HDMI slot you can use that instead of a scart lead and choose HDMI on your tv output

Connecting HD cable box to DVR too HDTV

When I hooked up my HD cable box using an HDMI cable, I had to go into the cable screen menus and select HDMI output. You may have to do something similar when using an S-video cable. Your DVD recorder doesn't seem to have an HDMI input, so you'll have to use the S-video or (worst case) composite video (red, white, yellow cords). Your cable box may also be scrambling the signal so that you can't record. That may be why you can record by bypassing the cable box.

Setting up Cable with HDMI

Yes, the firmware on your hdtv box has an old firmware, I switched my old hdtv box with a newer one box and the problem was solved. It seems that it can't work if your hooking up with DVI to HDMI cable to your receiver to tv. Your hd box must have an HDMI out otherwise it causes problems. I also have rx-v661 and i finally hooked up everything HDMI to the receiver and then to the tv and it was having the problem you speak of. After I switched out the hd box for a newer one everthing worked fine.

HD hookups

Generally, hum is a by-product of interference between the AC power cord and wires carrying the signal. Try and arrange the power cord to be perpendicular to the input wire. If that does NOT work, I doubt a surge suppressor has anything to do with the issue. But try that first. Also, have you installed a surge protector? If not, then maybe you could think about installing one. Hope this helps
