My 50707 just went to the shop after it would go into protection mode, worked over a weekend, and then totally died. My technician said that Misubishi may have overfilled the coolant gel in the CRTs when they were first made, and that the gel dripped right on a board where it caused problems. Mitsubishi is looking at my board now to see if it can be fixed. Not all the components on the boards are available anymore. The technician also said that Mitsubishi is recommending that non-flammable drop cloths be added in the cabinet so that any drips will hit the cloth and then be directed to drip off into the bottom of the cabinet where it won't do any damage.
Then your not makin any money!! LMAO!!!
You said you checked the convergence ICs and they're okay - WHAT did you check? Check temperature. Also, try rapping on the heat sink they're mounted on, see if that shuts it down or causes flickers in picture. If those provide no further insight, your problem is bad capacitors on the power supply/waveform generator/deflection board, you will need ESR equipment to check them and good soldering skills to replace. Unit will require in-shop service. A repair bill over $250 is a swindle - we did one for half of that last week.
