Hi Daniel,Please check if you can access the "error code operational check" to narrow down where the fault came from. How to enter to error code operational check.Note : The TV must be in shutdown and not have been switched off. When the TV is switched off, the error code automatically resets to 12 (no error).Press the buttons on the front panel "Input/Device" and "Menu" at the same time and hold it for 5 sec, activate the error code mode. The LED light will flashes denoting a two digit error code.Example : if the error code is 22, the led will flash two times pause and then flash two times and will repeat the error code for five times. If you can't access the error code operational check , please let me know the exact pattern of the flashes of the led light and its color. Check if it will continually flashes green to give you the caused of the symptoms and best solution.Good luck and take care.

You may have a bad ground on your vertical IC to begin with! Other repairs would include a bad ground on a coil or the horizontal transformer. The biggest problem is, Yes you have some bad grounds. Repair will be, to find the cracked rings underneath the boards and resolder. Take this note to your local TV Tech, this is your best defense in keeping the the repair cost down! Knowledge, in this case, is on your side now. Good Luck in your search!

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the Projection TV and to reset it follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes.

2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Flyback is necessary part of CRT based rear projection TVs that generates high voltage for picture tubes and low voltages for other circuits in TV.
Click HERE to see an image of flyback transformer, just for reference.
Since TV is an old model so spare parts would not be available.

VS 50801 and VS 60801 mitsubishi2.gif models (I have one each) have both had this problem develop after about 10 years of service. The picture simply started "Blinking" off after collapsing to a horizontal line - audio was still present. A simple fix to this problem is to space the yoke connector (7-pin white "Molex-type") away from the neck of the CRT (~1/8 ") . I used a plastic insulator. My 60" set had a problem with the center CRT (green) connector and thye 50" set had the same problem on the connector on the Left (red) yoke connector. The TV senses an open yoke circuit and shuts down all deflection drive. I only want a few more years of service from these sets, otherwise I would resolder the connector on the PCB for a correct and permanent solution.
