I would suggest you to check the heatsink and cpu fan,
it could be dirty, if it is dirty, clean it and it should work fine.
To see heatsink and cpu fan, open 4 screw on the back of your laptop.
remove the cover, remove the fan screw (3), remove fan,
remove 4 screw on the cpu heatsink, remove the heatsink.
if your heatsink and fan are clean, it could be something else cause the shut down.
in this case you should send it for repair.
I have acer aspire 5520 worked great for about 1yr then lagged in games and froze up figured out it was heating. tried many things then i opened her up and cleaned out the exhaust fins off the fan temp dropped by 10c i just used the end of a sparkler but anything thin will do
Hp pavilion dv4 1220 us constantly overheating then shutting down. Cleaning with compressed air helps sometimes but heard this is a known issue with this model. Is that true?

I had bought Toshib Satellite P35-S611 laptop in 2004. It is shuts down automatically when the temperature reach around 70 F. It is happening to me for the past three years. Presently the temperature around my apartment is 50 F, so I have small heater at home. I am heating to keep the apartment at least 70-75 , but the laptop shut down automatically.
This is a very bad product.
