Over heating i bought acer 5315 vista home basic eight months before but now its over heat n automatically shut down

  • skmurali Feb 18, 2009

I had bought Toshib Satellite P35-S611 laptop in 2004. It is shuts down automatically when the temperature reach around 70 F. It is happening to me for the past three years. Presently the temperature around my apartment is 50 F, so I have small heater at home. I am heating to keep the apartment at least 70-75 , but the laptop shut down automatically.

This is a very bad product.

I would suggest you to check the heatsink and cpu fan,
it could be dirty, if it is dirty, clean it and it should work fine.

To see heatsink and cpu fan, open 4 screw on the back of your laptop.
remove the cover, remove the fan screw (3), remove fan,
remove 4 screw on the cpu heatsink, remove the heatsink.

if your heatsink and fan are clean, it could be something else cause the shut down.
in this case you should send it for repair.

Hp pavilion dv4 1220 us constantly overheating then shutting down. Cleaning with compressed air helps sometimes but heard this is a known issue with this model. Is that true?

How to reset vista windows back to manafacture asper 5315

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
Follow this guide:

My acer 5315 turns itself off occasionally with no warning. looked at the power settings , no problem there

Is it overheating, and then automatically shutting itself off, to prevent the heat from causing damage?

Turn it off. Disconnect the AC power. Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air, and give your computer a "blow-job" to remove dust from inside it,
because a layer of dust is acting like an insulating blanket, i.e., retaining excess heat.

I have the acer5715/5315 series abd it crashed. I had it fixed and the guy put windows 7 so now none of my acer programs work. How can I get these to work with windows 7

Operating System Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Starter

1. Before upgrading to windows 7, you must check the specification of your acer aspire 5315.

2. Windows 7 is better than windows vista but if you are really wanted those acer programs to work. You have to downgrade your operating system from your previous operating system.

Immediate shutdown, Heat problem, Low battery back-up

I have the same computer and had the same issues. It finally got to the point where it no longer tured on at all. I sent it in to Dell and they repaired in about 2 weeks. Send it in now before your warranty expires. But be sure to call support first and get an RMA number or you may never see your system again.

Crash!!

Could be Heat, sounds like the system is shutting down to protect the processor. Let it sit shut down over night and see if it runs longer when it's cooled down. Is the fan running?
