Your best long term fix will be to solder the wires together then tape them individually and finally tape the whole thing. Second choice will be to use crimp (**** splice) connections and then tape. Last choice will be just twisting stripped wires together and tape everything.

If you aren't getting any lights from your X1 and it is getting no power you probably want to contact Turtle Beach Support about getting a replacement under warranty.

Check to see if the USB plug is inserted properly. Try using a different USB plug on the XBOX. Also, check if the light comes on when you plug it into a USB plug on your PC or laptop.
