Hi tifftiffpup...
The ipod is requesting that you hook it up to Itunes...maybe for updates.
If nothing happens after you hook the ipod to itunes then you may have to do a restore.
You can restore you ipod but it will wipe all songs, video, messages, pictures, etc completely off the ipod...sometimes you have no choice but to do that and you have to reload everything back on...
Here is how you do a restore incase you do not know:

1...Make sure you have an Internet connection, you may need to download new updated versions of the iTunes or iPod Software.
2...Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
3...Open iTunes.
Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable that came with your iPod.
4...After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
5...Select your iPod in the Source panel.
You will see some information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
6...Click Restore.
7...A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun.
When this stage is done, iTunes will show one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
8...Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter this typically applies to older iPod models.
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore this typically applies newer iPod models.
9...During part two of the restoreing process, the iPod will display an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display.
NOTE: It is very important that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage of the restore.
10...After the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear.
It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences.
Please take time to rate me.

How can i put games on my ipod from the computer.

It's really quite easy. You'll just need to install iTunes on your computer, start-up iTunes, plug-in your iPod with the USB cable that came with the iPod and then follow the on-screen instructions on iTunes.

You can download iTunes from here: (click here)

Save the file to your computer, and then double-click on the icon for the downloaded file to start the installation. Follow the on-screen directions.

My son updated my 2g ipod touch on his (older?) computer. It is frozen now & won't go past a screen w/the itunes symbol & the usb plug. It will not restore. I have uninstalled & reinstalled...

  • This isn't an iTunes problem. While the iPod is displaying this logo, you need to plug it in to a computer that has iTunes open beforehand.
  • Try using another computer with iTunes installed, or another USB cable for the iPod. Try to restart by holding the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds.
  • If this still doesn't work, take the iPod to your local Apple store, where they can check for any hardware problems that may have occurred.

Help my ipod touch is a 16gb n older version and its gt 5808849 minutes left. what cn i do?

Have iTunes open and your USB cable plugged into the Computer "BUT NOT THE iPOD"!

Turn the iPod off- Press and hold the sleep/wake button at the top left corner for approximately 10 seconds until the screen says slide to power off.

Force into recovery mode Press and hold the home button (in the front on the bottom) for approximately 10 seconds until you get the image of a USB cable pointing towards the iTunes logo on the screen. If you do not get this, try holding the home button down and at the same time plugging the other half of the USB cable into the ipod waiting for a message in iTunes

Follow instructions in iTunes Once you plug the iPod into the computer, you should get a message saying "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode, it must be restored to be used." At this point you hit the restore button in iTunes and wait for the iPod to be restored

Why does my new ipod have a picture of a USB cable, and an arrow pointing to the itunes icon on the screen and won't go away?

You probably got yourself a new iPod!
What the screen is trying to tell you is that you should sync your iPod to iTunes. To do that:
Step 1: Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and click download to download iTunes.
Step 2: Once it is downloaded, find where you have saved the file, and double-click it.
Step 3: Continue by pressing next through each screen until you reach the end screen (the one where there is a finish button).
Step 4: Connect your iPod to the computer with the USB cable that came with your iPod.Follow the on screen instructions. You should now be able to use your iPod!

My ipod just says plug into itunes to restore and when i do this it doesnt show up in itunes or my computer can anyone help?

First you will need to force your iPod into disk mode. To do this you will need to reset the iPod by pressing and holding both the menu and center buttons. Continue to do this for at least ten seconds or until the apple icon appears. (Note: You may only see a blip on the screen, continue to the next step. Keep in mind though that you may need to repeat this process once to twice to force the iPod into disc mode.)
As soon as you do see the apple icon, remove your fingers and switch to holding both the play and center buttons. Keep holding those until you see a check mark appear on the screen, below it will say Ok to disconnect. At this point your iPod will be in Disk mode.

Next open ITunes2_bing.gif on your computer and plug in the USB cable to one of the ports on your computer. Now you will connect your iPod to the USB cable. In the left hand column of iTunes you will see your iPod icon; go ahead and click on that icon. In the resulting page you will see the iPod summary. Within this page you will see a Restore button. Click on that button and follow any on screen instructions. Allow the restore to complete fully.

On the ipod touch the itunes icon comes out and is a usb cable with an arow pointing to the itunes icon

make sure you're USB is unplugged. when you're at the screen with the itunes symbol and the usb arrow, hold down the home and sleep button until the screen goes black, at this point, keep holding for another 10 seconds. at this point your screen should look black as if the ipod is off. connect to the computer and itunes shoulds show a message like "itunes has just discovered an ipod in recovery mode" you'll be able to do a restore and regain use of your touch.
if this does not work, message me back.
