Hi i" ve bought on

This may help. If it's not the exact model you have it will at least get you started as subwoofers are pretty much teh same for connection and operation.

I have wharfdale atlantic 400se. The tweeter is no longer working. How do i work out if it is a cross over or the tweeter

If there was a traumatic high-volume event that preceded this problem, I'd guess the tweeter died.

If you can access the connections on the tweeter and you have an ohmmeter, you could disconnect the tweeter and measure across the the terminals. A shorted or open voice coil = dead tweeter. A measurement near the stated impedance is probably ok.

If you have NO ohmmeter, you could carefully connect the output of one amplifier channel directly to the tweeter and just scooch the volume upward slightly from silence while playing something with very little bass in it. If you hear it, the tweeter is alive.

Diamond 8.4 serie are there 2 way or 3 way

Hi,

These speakers are 3-way there are 2 woofers and 1 tweeter per speaker. Here are the technical specifications of each speaker:

Two 6.5-inch Kevlar woofers and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter per speaker
86 dB sensitivity
20 to 150 watts recommended power (per channel)
6 ohms impedance
30 to 20,000 Hz frequency response

Please rate my answer if this helps.

Many thanks,

Chris

Can't get wharfedale melton 2 tweeter to work. Looked inside cabinet and need advice on internal wiring please. These are very old but one works perfectly and the 12'' bass driver on the problem speaker is...

The tweeter has burned out and cannot be salvaged. I also own a pair of (ex) Melton 2s. In the beginning Wharfedale were good at supplying spares (see www.wharfedale.co.uk for contact info and advice). A few years ago after my cat destroyed the 12 inch unit in one, i invested in new insides, including state of the art 12 inch woofers, 4 inch mid range and 1inch tweeters with a good 3 way crossover. The cabinet is great so consider asking a techie friend to do this for you. Please don't just cut out and connect to amp speaker wires! You will get terrible sound and risk ruining both amp and speakers! Best regards Karl ([email protected])

Wharfedale

Hello georgesverme,

I'd recommend starting with the local importer of Wharfdale products to see if they have exact replacement tweeters for sale. Contact:
Bob Springston, Sound Import, LLC
Phone: (508) 422-9788
Email: [email protected]

If you are unable to get tweeters from them, see if they will recommend a replacement or at the very least, provide you with the specifications, including the impedance, crossover point, frequency response, and power handling capability. If they won't or can't provide the information, then you are on you own. You'll want a relatively high-quality product, most likely 8ohm (but could be 16), crossover between 5-8KHz, frequency response from crossover to infinity (or at least beyond the range of human hearing).

Then try www.partsexpress.com. They have a large selections of speaker building products and carry small tweeters like yours in several brands, price ranges, and quality levels. Vifa is excellent. Tang Band is good. Goldwood is acceptable for entry-level speakers.

Hope this helps.

Tweeter "drive" out on wharfedale svp - 15

Hi bertsteenrt

Can you check the resistance of the HF driver(tweeter). If it is open it will need a new diaphragm. Most of these speakers use a lamp to act as protection for the HF driver. Sometimes these lamps fail. You will need to pull the horn out of the cabinet to check, and the rear connection panel off to get access to the crossover where the lamp is located. Get back to me here and I can talk you through fault finding the speaker.

Wharfedale Modus One

The tweeters are probably blown, i had the same problem.
You can test this by placing the cable on the dismanteled crossover at the back of the speaker. colour blue/yellow.
No high volume please.
See http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-speakers/4549-wharfedale-modus-one-six-crossover-pics.html
for pictures.
If the tweeter is blown it can be dismanteld with the aid of a screwdriver, horizontally.
Place it between the tweeterbowl and the ring which has the mark wharfedale on it. The tweeter comes loose. On second hand sites you can buy little speakers, like modus one or two's with the same tweeters for a good price and put them on your larger speakers.

This how i repaired 2 of my 4 modus eights.

good luck Danny Mol

Tweeters only works when touched!

This is not a solution, but I have the same problem. Obviously, the problem is with the tweeter not the crossover. I can't find a replacement tweeter so i am about to take it to my local stereo repair store and see if they can fix it. If you find a replacement tweeter, let me know.
