Needing the phone for the Little Tikes Image Sounds Playhouse.

WIth little tikes items, you may not need the hardware to hold it all together. It all pretty much snaps together. If you do want to use hardware and secure it from wind/etc, you can use any type of common machine screw that you can screw into the plastic.  Let me know if you have any problems.

Yes, use a large rubber mallet but be careful.  If you use a regular hammer it will damage the plastic

Use a rubber mallet and be careful. You can put holes in the plastic. 
If this is the yellow house with a pink door and blue roof, the corner shelf will take some elbow grease. It is a little difficult to get it out.
