Hello, 2 years ago you have posted the info on how to repair ws-65869 "This model uses a single convergence IC chip---- STK-393-110. The chip needs to be replaced and there are about a dozen light blue resistors in front of it that need to be checked also." there was an offer to send the instruction on how to repair it. Is it possible to obtain them please?

It a 100% convergence problems.Convergence problems very easy diagnose.The picture look like 3D,colors lines don't lines up.Fuzzy,out of focus.Convergence controls don't work to lines up any colors cross.
WS-55511 uses a single convergence IC chip---a STK-393-110.
IF convergence is off and will not adjust it needs along with any of the 3.9 ohm resistors that protect it to be replaced.
What happens in these and most projection sets is the chip is mounted on a large metal heat sink with fins to keep it cool----a white grease is applied to the back of the chip to quickly transfer heat--after some years the grease dries out from the heat and the chip fails.
Considering you can buy the IC on Ebay for about 14 dollars plus shipping (I can tell you the best seller there to look for) if you or someone you know can do the repair you can save the set and a LOT of money.
Most shops are going to get 200-300 for this repair

Either the convergence alignment, wich can be repair by the owner...with the remote (tough not a simple task), or you have to change the convergence hybrid IC (STK chip)...if any or the convergence board itself.

This model uses a single STK-393-110 convergence IC.

If red is skewed and or bowed etc the chip must be replaced.

It is located on the middle board and can be a do it yourself repair.

Part will cost about 14 dollars on EBAY.

The model indicated uses a single STK-393-110 CONVERGENCE OUTPUT IC. The chip is most likely the problem(98%) and I know as I have changed hundreds of them.

The part is about 14 dollars from a seller I use on EBAY.

They tell you everything you will need and how do do the repair.

The repair involves getting the center circuit board out of the set and replacing the IC and examining some blue resistors in front of it to make sure none opened.

If you go into the customer menu and select convergence--then advanced(there will be instructions on screen) and red or blue are skewed and will not adjust--you have a convergence circuit problem.

The WS-55511 you have indicated uses a large single IC chip for this---a STK-393-110. SHOPS get 300 or more for this but you can buy all the parts needed for under 30 dollars--one seller I use on Ebay has that chip for 12 dollars.

This model (WS-65869) uses a single large convergence chip that commonly can cause this kind of trouble--I have seen dozens or them where convergence comes and goes from bad to good etc.

The IC is a STK-393-110 and I just received some from a source on Ebay (they cost about 12 dollars plus shipping)-----


The hard part of this repair is the center circuit board needs to be removed to do this repair----if you think you can do it----it involves soldering etc--let me know by rating this solution and I will post the instructions here for you.

If you cannot do this repair--shop around your area--most shops get 300-400 for this type of repair; if they say it has to go to the shop--keep looking as any good tech can do it right in your home in about one hour.

I have done hundreds of these sets and after the IC is replaced and the set adjusted--you will not have the same problem for 5-8 years (life span of this kind of part).

i have tried this replacement on philips 43 inch. convergence ic part # is STK-392-120. it is mounted on a big heatsink, replace this 2 IC at one time. soldering is not difficult. 1. you need desoldering tool (**** type) 2. soldering iron of 40W 3. and silicon grease for greater transfer between IC body and heatsink. i bought that personally in asia for less than 50USD on two IC with same part # . let me know if there is any other thing i can do.
