To switch your Pioneer DV-400V DVD player back to an interlaced video mode after selecting a progressive scan mode and losing picture, follow these steps:

Switch everything off.
Switch the player to standby.
Press and hold the Standy/ON button while pressing the |<< button.

This resets your Pioneer DVD-400V player HDMI output format to 480p.

Reconnect using the supplied video cable (standard RCA Red White & Yellow). Switch the player to standby. Press and hold the Standy/ON button while pressing the |<< button.This resets your player to default video output, allowing you to reconfigure your HDMI settings to 1080i, and then reconnect your HDMI cable.
